4.0 out of 5 stars Almost Brilliant, but five years late on politics, 3 Nov. 2009

This review is from: Audacity Of Hype (Audio CD)
The music is tight, taut, harder and better than the Kennedys. As ever with Biafra the songs are meandering slices of paranoia in 2000 America, but its not really about the Audacity of Hype - most of these songs are anti- Republican/Pentagon and feel five years old or more, a couple were actually done at time of WTO Combo era, 2000/01.

However Three Strikes and Electronic Plantation are searing and scary slices of hard rock punk, very like Lard in sound and execution, and overall it does not feel like a ewashed up 50 year old but it captures some of the live energy - if Guantanamo School of Medicine come back to UK go! I travelled a long way to Sheffield, the band were a real band and hard as hell, and they played 5 or 6 DK songs, but these were every bit as good as the classics.

Hopefully they can sell enough to afford to do another album soon and actually have a go at the Obama hype....

I saw these guys live last night at the O2 Academy Islington in London and they were amazing. They played a load of stuff from this new album and four old Dead Kennedys songs. Jello Biafra is still totally crazy and brilliant and the songs are just as hard hitting as ever. Buy this when it comes out!

4.0 out of 5 stars The best from Jello solo, 11 May 2011

This is almost as good as anything Jello did with the Dead Kennedys. It's taut, powerful, better produced, and has that familiar Jello voice and political lyrics. If you like the Kennedys then you will definitely like this (check out Lard too). I'd give it 4.5 stars if they would let me (5 stars being reserved for the Dead Kennedys). A must-have for punk fans everywhere.
