We are an older generation, and are amazed that anyone should want to watch such utter disgusting and depraved rubbish, this was a big disappointment as it was intended, following a meal to be watched as birthday entertainment, dispatch to the rubbish bin!

Why did I find Borat funny Ha Ha whereas I found Bruno funny Peculiar?

In the film the character Bruno is watched by a focus group who found him pervy / disgusting! We were shown this. So what is our reaction? What should our reaction be?

Sympathy

There were one or two interesting sketches.

The film used a black baby as a prop. In the film, Bruno is seen interviewing parents of prospective babies to be used in the film. The parents are prepared to say anything to get their babies in the film.

Funny?

Depressing?

Quite often the reaction of real people to Bruno was one of 'looking depressed', before escaping!

There was another interesting sketch in which two men were fighting in a cage. Members of the audience showed infantile excitement at the prospect of the two men hurting each other. (I have been in the audience of wrestling matches and I know that once you overcome your moral inhibitions the spectacle can be very exciting.) In the film the two men start kissing each other to the disgust of the audience.

Was that funny?

Not really.

The reaction of the audience was predictable. They were annoyed. No doubt they felt cheated and possibly they even sensed that someone was making fun of them.

Bruno was put in a military camp and expected to conform to the ridiculous demands of the sergeant. Was that funny?

No

OK, you have to ask yourself the question why Drill Sergeants behave in such a ridiculous way. I think the answer is to be found in Wikileaks. The soldier who leaked the information - Bradley Manning - now says that he is Gay and this is his defence. Surely this should have been revealed at an early stage in his military training that 'He could not take it', 'that he cracked under pressure'.

I can understand Bradley Manning saying that he wanted to dispel the 'fog of war' that President Bush was so fond of. But surely Bradley Manning would also understand that what he was doing would make him the enemy. I feel rather sorry for this young man. However there were consequences to his actions.

Isn't this the problem with the humour of Bruno. The reactions of other people are understandable and not funny. Whereas people could identify with Borat and predict disaster. Bruno was pervy from the start.

After finding Borat funny, I kinda thought Bruno would be too - How wrong can you be, he offended just about everyone and it wasnt even a good film, it wasnt so much shocking as just plain disgusting! I would avoid this at all costs, I will never watch it again and will also be very wary of any other films Sacha brings out.

I bought this DVD because I loved Borat. However... When watched it the first time I was kind of shocked and disgusted - Bruno dancing with strings on, irritating homosexual moves, kissing another man (turning my head away because I felt sick), but... When finished this movie I said to myself - Sasha Baron Cohen is GENIUS!!! Then I realized - don't watch this movie as any other one - this isn't about this - everything is about so call SOCIAL EXPERIMENT. Next day I watched this movie again, but this time I focused on peoples reaction - and that's it! All the fun with Bruno is peoples reaction, when they see somebody like him either in USA or Israel, either on the catwalk or on the TV show with black baby - that was amazing! Personally - I wouldn't recommend Bruno to anyone, who doesn't have sense of humor, but if you enjoy sophisticated kind of You Have Been Framed then go for it!
Why 4 stars? If this movie was just about another homosexual guy probably I wouldn't buy it or even if I'd rate it 0, null, crap, etc. But since I enjoyed watching how people came in interaction with such an individual case then I rate it 4 stars (would be 5 if not some scenes)...
So, once again - do you like You Have Been Framed in really weird way? Buy it! You don't have a sense of humor? Avoid it!

I regret every cent I spent for this absolute idiotic, disgusting film that tries to amuse with countless scenes of homosexual practices. I cannot understand what people liked in this film. It is only vulgar and without any sense at all, even the Austrian accent of Bruno and Lutz is everything else but Austrian, it looks as if the Director of this film couldn`t have bothered less to have them pronounce the words in German. And the icing of the cake was the scene where the adopted black baby joins in a group of homosexuals in a whirlpool in a more than obvious scene. This should definitely have been censured, as paedophiles shouldn`t be encouraged even more by such LEGAL scenes.
If I could have, I would have rated it minus 5 stars.

This is an absolutly terrible show, such a dissapointment compared to how good Borat and even Ali G were. My advice is to go to youtube and watch the advert as all the funny bits in the show are shown there. 1 Star is being very generous.

It's almost good, but is just fine. Probably a bad directed movie, because the situations are brilliant! Not Sasha fault...

Imagine a gorgeous baby being produced and calling it Borat. Then imagine someone having a laugh by giving a name to the Afterbirth. Well that film is Bruno.

When you are at the cutting edge of comedy like Cohen, unfortunately some material just dosen't work. This is that work.

Be warned, don't assume that because you liked Ali G and Borat that you will like this .. most will not.

Watch Da Ali g Show - Da Compleet First Seazon [ widescreen ]

or Borat: Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan [2006]

Avoid this
