Is impossible to get more of Ella Fitzgerald at a lower price. The selection of songs is impeccable, Ella is in great shape, the arrangements are gorgeous, the sound of the cd is clean and clear. Recordings concentrated in the 52-59, especially with the Buddy Bregman orchestra, but also with Paul Weston and Sy Oliver. Louis Armstrong and Oscar Peterson also appear on some tracks. Outstanding cost-benefit.

A lovely collection of Ella Fitzgerald's performances. Having previously had only a small collection of Ella songs, on vinyl, this increases my collection greatly with some well known classics and (at least for me) many lesser known but equally brilliant tracks, all in a simple download. Great stuff.

Has there ever been a finer female vocalist ? I don't think so, and this compilation of recordings is a fitting celebration of the wonderful singing voice that was Ella Fitzgerald.

Her voice possessed a range of true quality and a purity of such beauty that she could bring a unique 'life' to anything she sang; the fact that her vocal talent was supported by superb diction and her being so charismatic and generous made her into the star she deserved to be and will hopefully ensure her contributions permanently remain at the forefront of musical entertainment, irrespective of who else comes along in the future.

This collection includes a wide range of songs, with recording dates between the late 1940s to the late 1950s, from both the studio and live concert performances. The quality of the reproduction is excellent and really brings the beauty of her voice to the fore, with notable musical (and occasional) vocal support to well-known songs written by such greats as Rodgers, Porter, Berlin and Gershwin.

Although there are 100 tracks on this 5-disc set, the variety on offer avoids any potential 'monotony' and allows us to hear her sing at a range of pace and style to make listening a wonderful experience and, whilst the slant of tunes is towards the ballad/theatrical style, we even get to hear her marvellous 'scat' style of singing on the odd occasion.

This is an excellent compilation to celebrate the voice of Ella Fitzgerald for both those that remember her with fondness or anyone that has never heard her sing before and is in need of musical enlightenment !

The CD case sits inside an outer slipcase and includes a booklet with liner notes and individual track details.

Sometimes a record company is so in tune with the musical public that it is almost more a public service in the name of art. So it is in the case of the 100 Hits Legends series. To serve up Ella, Louis, Nat and Frank as well as other greats with such value is because someone knows that quality equals commercial success.

This Ella Fitzgerald collection at this price is a supreme example of art/commercial balance equalling achievement. Despite the very low price, many of the songs here are the original Verve label classics from the immortal Songbook collections.

I can't praise all concerned enough for their supreme good taste on every level. The reproduction is the equal of any modern studio technology (listen to Summertime featuring Louis Armstrong's incredibly moving trumpet playing) and of course the singing is a gift from the heavens...it is "bottled" love and humanity. The orchestrations are glorious. Why was taste so good in those days? Well done Demon, and to think that company was born out of the punk revolution!

Fantastic value for money. Incomparable singing. But the 5-disc jewel case will not fit into the cardboard slip case, annoyingly. In the end I just threw the outer cover away.

Vintage Ella, the well knoqwn and the well loved tracks as well as the lesser known songs. She must have done some substandard work but I've never met it and for the price on Kindle this is amazing value. Buy it and I guarantee you will feel mellow all day as you listen.
