This review is from: Vulnerable to Touch (Audio CD)
Early on, I wasn't that keen on Ms Rose and her music, but I was swayed by her last single 'Down To One Kiss'. Sadly, this album kicks of with the humdrum one-two of the Lily Allen on helium of 'Diamonds' and the faux-skank of 'Commitment Free'.

But come 'Say You Believe', things start to fall into place. Ms Rose opens up her pipes and starts to sing, the strings of the Royal Philharmonic come swooning in, and it's like a lost Dusty Springfield classic.

And it's on the big ballads that Ms Rose excels. Her excursions into dance-pop and reggae-lite come and go with a shrug of the shoulders, but the epic, emotional songs like 'Another Man' have the stamp of quality that will stand the test of time. 'Don't Mention This' is one of the best songs I've heard all year, despite (or because of) the grubby, emotional setting.

It is all a bit schizophrenic, with the poppier tunes jarring a bit, but there's plenty here to suggest that Holly Rose has what it takes.
