Gallic genius releases fine album
on 4 November 2001
When Daft Punk heralded the latest French Revolution (in Dance culture) in the mid '90's, both Air and Kid Loco loped through on their coat tails. Kid Loco's "Grand Love Story" was every bit the peer of Air's "Moon Safari", though marginally less successful. Since then he appears to have rather enigmatically disappeared into remix oblivion. Now arrives "Kill Your Darlings", but even this is still only available on import rather than a full release. Presumably the record company does not consider this to be as potentially successful as "Discovery" or "10,000 HZ Legend", though they would be wise to reconsider. This Gallic genius has written some of his best music to date, though the words "cafe" et "table" do spring to mind, dacor!
The beats are liquid funk and the mood is chillout, perfectly encapsulated with opening track "Cocaine Diana". Don't wait for the genearal release, it might just not happen, invest those couple of extra quid in one of the finest releases this year!!!
