I bought this purely to grate vegetables for making soup. It certainly delivers!

I got so carried away, I had to split my ingredients over two large pots. The speed it got through those carrots, potatoes and even turnip was very impressive.

I will be trying it with cheese as suggested by another reviewer. To be honest, I am more than delighted so far and it is so easy to clean.

Go on buy one - I know it is expensive, but think of your fingers!

I have used this for the first time today to slice a large amount of onions for chutney and vegetables for soup. I am absolutely delighted with it. It slices and grates cleanly, evenly and quickly. Being able to slice or grate straight in the the container used for cooking makes for less washing up too. A valuable addition to my kitchen arsenal.

Brilliant gadget - superb attachment to the Kenwood Chef, saves an enormous amount of time, slices, grates, shreds, everything including cucumbers, carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, cheese, chocolate, carrots, it's absolutely fantastic. Wish I'd bought it earlier.

I have always rated kenwood products, & this is no exception in it's quality, but am a little disappointed in it's action, the attachments are not quite true to there description of slicing,& it is a little messy, & not easy to clean. Overall, I wish I had treated myself to a food processor, rather than put this attachment on/off of my main machine , the parts of which take up quite a lot of room.

Great attachment made of good quality. It will last long time. 5 star for it's design and performance.

You should be aware that it is not worth having it if you cook small quantities. I am not using it enough so to justify expense (I used it perhaps 5 times in the last year) - but that is my fault for not thinking this purchase through. I find it easier and quicker to chop few carrots and potatoes using the knife - but when it comes to cooking dinner for more than few people, this attachment cuts your job from 20 min down to 2.

It is a bit much to wash, but all blenders/cutters requires similar treat.

I was waiting to buy this for a long while - and Amazon had a great price. So I snatched it up immediately. I wanted it to reduce the limited cooking time I have when I come back from work and chopping is the task that I love the least next only to the washing. It comes with seven plates for : standard chip, fine chip, extra fine shredding, fine slicing, coarse slicing, fine slicing and coarse shredding. I really want to love this but while it does do its job nice and uniform, it is not suitable for our everyday cooking for two as the fitting and washing would be more time consuming than the actual cutting.

What I like:

If I were to make multiple dishes - say have to chop the veggies for soup, curries, salad in bulk, then this is very easy to use and gets all the veggies chopped in an instant.

What I dont like:

There seems to be a lot of small parts, so it is a bit cumbersome in that it would take even more time to wash these than the actual chopping

Cleaning, even immediately can be a bit fiddly as veggies get trapped in corners and crevices. So have to get the knife out to remove those, which is far from ideal.

There are many attachements, which is a good thing, but storage is very tricky as I already have run out of space for the original Kenwood Mixer included attachments apart from the extras.

The extension chute kept falling down repeated during the operation

The veggies were sprayed over my kitchen top away from the big container. And I had to try and hold the bowl in one hand while dropping down the veggies with the other. Also the food ejection paddle feels a bit flimsy.

This is superb for slicing vegetables for soup, which I make in large batches. Cutting up the vegetables by hand had been quite tedious (& not good for the joints either), but now the AT340 speeds up the job of food slicing very efficiently. It is still trial & error with the blades & I would have liked some guidance. I tried using 2 of the finest for making salad, but found that I will probably need to use a mid range blade to preserve crunch.
I found cleaning the parts easy. The gearing mechanism has to be given a wipe over rather than being immersed in water. Some of the other parts are dishwasher safe but instead I tend to wash them by hand & leave overnight to drain.
This slicer was the reason I bought a Kenwood chef & it was absoloutely the right decision.

I have recently purchased this with the aim of eating a higher proportion of organic raw veg in my diet.

The whole attachment is sturdy and well made.

The disks work so well

I use it to

slice vegetables for salads and stir fries
grate celeriac and other "hard" vegetables for salads
grate parmesan
julienne carrots, courgettes and other veg for salads
slice cucumbers for pickles
slice onion for making onion marmalade

The list could go on, and on...

It really is very simple to use, and I find a rinse under the tap gets it sparkling clean.

I have yet to find any draw back at all to this excellent attachment for the chef.
