5.0 out of 5 stars Tony MacAlpine's best album, 10 Jun 2005

Tony MacAlpine, often touring as part of Steve Vai's backing band and the central figure in the jazz-funk set up CAB, is relatively unknown in the UK. A classically-trained musician, his guitar work is technically easily on a par with Satriani and Vai, although his songs can become repititious and dirge-like. This album however is his best; slightly metal-influenced, his rifs are played with passion and machine-gun like speeed. If you're into instrumental guitar fan this album won't disappoint. And for a perspective on his later, more jazz-influenced work, listen to songs like 'Topspin' on CAB2.

If you like Tony MacAlpine you will enjoy this album. I love it but some wouldn't as it is a bit contrived ... but; hey, this is what you would expect.
