I chose the Hoover Dust Manager as it was a reasonably priced vacuum cleaner and has the Hoover name. Previous hoovers, like the Hoover Junior models, were well built and easily lasted 10 or 20 years or more and are still being used or reconditioned and sold today. However, this model is made from cheap plastic which feels like it will crack easily. The cover of the power switch on mine has already broken off - luckily it is only cosmetic and doesn't expose any electrical components.

The Hoover is unstable when using the suction nozzle and the one I bought did not have a full stair height hose, it only reaches half way.

When using the hoover normally, the hose tends to pop out of its housing resulting in a loss of suction.

Unfortunately a poorly designed model. Hoover are not the company they once were!

Choose something else!

i bought this hoover after reading someone elses review on another site - they said it was very good.
yes it has brilliant suction but the end keeps coming off the hose when in use the hose is not long enough the actual hoover is not at all stable when using the hose the machine always falls over - the wheels underneath have fallen off - just out of guarantee - i hardly use the hoover as i have a lot of wooden floors so tend to sweep - but when i did use it i got extremely frustrated with it when it kept falling over and the end came off. - now it has just started to smoke!!!!!! perhaps its taking a rest!!!!!! not funny to me as not a cheap hoover at £100plus.

This Hoover has a good motor but unfortunately the 'body' of the machine is badly made and parts start breaking very shortly after purchase. It also starts to overheat after awhile. Mine has just come to the end of its life now, just under a year after I bought it. Another irritating thing about this machine is how unstable it is and so it frequently falls over while you are using the pipe around the edges of a room or on the stairs. This machine is not value for money and I'd steer of it.

I concur with the other reviews. This was reasonably priced but very poorly designed. We bought it for our holiday home in Ireland and the aforementioned problems with tipping over when using the tube/ tube coming off/cheapo construction all happened as well as the belt snapping and NO dealers in the locality had the right replacement. Avoid at all costs!

I bought this hoover after previously owning several dysons. I have not had any problems with the quality of the plastic, but compared to a dyson (which albeit is not the best vacuum in the world anyway), this hoover is unstable and the cylinder is so small you have to empty it very often. The cylinder is also very messy to empty.

I like the suction on this machine and seems to work very well. I am a little nervous that the plastic parts will break as the last two Hoovers I've had would not stand up on their own after approximately 1 year. The foot pedal to stand it up and release it into the down position went on both of them. I hope this will not be the case with this one.

This purchase seems to be good so far.
