5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best rock albums of '99
This lot were massive in America upon release of this, their debut album, but have been unanimously ignored in the UK, as is usual with any genuinely good US act trying to gain credibility over here.
While not as revolutionary or challenging as, say, the new Nine Inch Nails album, Second Coming can be pretty gritty and out-of-the-ordinary when the mood takes them...

This lot were massive in America upon release of this, their debut album, but have been unanimously ignored in the UK, as is usual with any genuinely good US act trying to gain credibility over here.
While not as revolutionary or challenging as, say, the new Nine Inch Nails album, Second Coming can be pretty gritty and out-of-the-ordinary when the mood takes them. They have two points however that set them way above the current flock of Seattle-area guitar bands. Firstly, Travis Bracht's wonderful voice, full, smoke-gravelled and with a range that Pavarotti would find challenging, he brings the full life out of every song, bringing Layne Staley and Scott Weiland to mind. Secondly are the songs. Second Coming are flowing with them, and apart from the somewhat overly commercial "Soft", they're all fantastic, kicking th pants off the lame efforts of Creed, Pearl Jam and similar pretenders.
All in all an extremely worthwhile purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album, 9 Aug. 2009

This review is from: Second Coming (Audio CD)
When this band first surfaced around the same time Fuel released their album, everyone hailed the return of Grunge. There are alot of influences on this album genre wise but its the melodic voice of Travis Bracht that really steps this apart from any other band. Right from the opener to the end track, it takes you on a trip of great riffs and melodies. Words cannot describe how good this album is and how its been criminally ignored by most of the public. An absolute classic.
