I have a 7 pin s-video slot on my Acer laptop and a 4 pin S-video slot on my TV. I was concerned at first about the compatibility issues between the two but I learned from other sources that the 3 extra pins on my laptop merely duplicate whats on the other pins so that the signal can be used for other media interfaces.

So a took a chance and bought this 4 pin cable and it works fine. The product arrived within 3 days of order as well which is good service in my opinion. I haven't used it for prolonged period of time since I've only had it a few days so can't comment on its longivity. But at 1.82 and free shipping, well, its a price you can't argue with. Good value for money.

I refuse to pay over the odds for cables. There are so many people ready to rip you off.

As S-video is analogue, though, the quality of the cable DOES matter though, so I ordered this just hoping that it would be good enough.

Thankfully it proved my cynicism right - you DO NOT need to spend a fortune!

This cable feeds S-Video along 15m from a DVD player to a projector and the picture out the other end is perfectly watchable.

To be absolutely critical, the pictures are very slightly soft, however when projecting SD material softness actually helps smooth out the lack of definition. And when displayed on a regular sized TV it's no real problem either.

For pin-sharp pictures you wouldn't want to use an S-Video cable anyway (better an RGB SCART or better still an HDMI). But if S-Video is all you have available and you've got to get a long way with it then this does the job very well.

I used this cable to connect my Archos 5 to a projector. Works well. Note - you need separate sound cable connections too as this is just video but quality was good. Good price and quick delivery.

Hard to find these S-Video cables at a 10m length in the shops around here - and if you do, then they are at a hugely inflated price - so this is an excellent buy at a very competitive price. Just what I needed to connect my PC to my Freeview box :)

Tremendous service yet again, great cable, gives sharper clarity with standard DVD player than coloured component cables and scarts. Difference does appear to me to be clearer, it is just experimentation, but yes this has beaten the quality of the two other possible connections I have mentioned. S-Video cables certainly perform with standard DVD players when connected to a HD ready TV, as this is the method I've used. These cables are definately underated.

I am always worried in case things purchased do not live up to expectations due mainly to experience, however,in this case I was highly delighted in the product. It was easy to set up with a very good DVD to guide you and the results were excellent. I managed to get and improve some old video tapes without any problem. I can highly recommend this product for Mac users.

S video cables only carry video pictures - if you want to carry audio, you need RCA audio/composite cables too...

i've used it to capture with an easycap from VHS tape, and compared it to the composite video signal, and it IS SLIGHTLY better quality - BUT not much...

Purchased this to use with the ezcap.tv video capture device. Worked a treat. As I am not an expert in these matters I cant comment on the quality vs other products, but it was perfectly good for what I needed it for. Great service also from Amazon with very fast delivery.

Quality of picture was not as good as I was expecting but the cable works. Having never used an s-video cable before maybe my expectations were too high?!
