Definately worth buying
on 30 December 2009
I asked for this game for christmas, only knowing that it had been released on the Nintendo DS, and had a top-down view on that. I heard it was out for the PSP (That was the only reason I asked for it), thinking that it'd be like Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories or Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, which was a bit naive of me.. But that's not what we're here to talk about so I'll continue.
Upon turning on my PSP, and loading up the game.. It has the same loading style as other Grand Theft Auto games, and then it introduces with a top-down view. With that I was disappointed, I'd expected more from Rockstar, instead of an almost identical port of the DS game. But, after playing for about half an hour or so I was fine with the top-down view (I had tried to change the camera, don't worry!). After a while it just sticks, and you feel fine with the top-down view, and it doesn't affect the gamestyle play, other than the fact that it's harder to dodge traffic, though it doesn't happen enough to cause mass anger.
The mini-games are welcome in my eyes, and very enjoyable, as there are a few of them. The graphics are awesome, and it makes the most of the PSP's capabilities - The graphics wouldn't look out of place on a Playstation Two!
I don't want to cause controversy, but the other reviewers who have said that the top-down view is rubbish, buy another PSP game etc.... Sound like they haven't played the original Grand Theft Auto games that gave Rockstar a successful base on which to change the camera view with.
This game is near perfect, and it is easy to get addicted to it - Not just the missions, which aren't too challenging, but there are safehouses to buy, drugs to deal, cameras to destroy and little side missions like in all Grand Theft Autos since number three.
Definately worth buying!
