Fans of Justice or Evil Nine should check this out right now.

MSTRKRFT are what a rock band would sound like if they replaced every one of their guitars, basses and drumkits with synthesizers, but still managed to maintain that sheer raw rock energy. They can really make their synths scream, and you'll want to turn this up loud. These tracks are very club-minded, though most of them are provided in shorter less DJ-friendly versions than you might like.

The vocals and melodies are kept pretty straight, no major surprises. The vocals never overpower the tracks- sometimes the raps are let loose to roll for several lines, sometimes it's a looped sample, it keeps it interesting. John Legend's appearance on "Heartbreaker" is a highlight- and obviously the album's main attempt to get radio attention, as not much else on the album sounds like "Heartbreaker" really.

"Breakaway" is a nice inclusion, harking unashamedly right back to the 1980s.

It might've been nice to have a couple more sung vocals tracks in place of a couple of the rap ones, and a couple of different synth sounds thrown in to give the second half of the album some different flavours, but besides that this album does rock and is well worth a listen.
