Mr Lennox uses a different approach to the first dvd filmed in USA.
There he was the jovial opponent. It is produced by a Christian organisation but Mr Dawkins more than holds his own in both dvd's.
Here Mr Lennox is more serious and introspective about how their world views differ. He does not produce any scientific evidence about God, but as usual only his opinions.
For Dawkins life on earth is a brief, but awe-inspiring shooting star. This short life is all we have, so make the most of it.
For Lennox life on earth is the way of the cross and then eternal sunshine- after you are dead. He concentrates on, 'the Logos.' God said the word and then there was light. The only word God seems to have said is 'Goodbye.'
I wonder who's right?

TOP 1000 REVIEWERon 8 October 2010
The format of the debate was in a rather more conversational format, rather than the more adversarial format in the "God delusion" debate in Birmingham Alabama, which made the debate better. Both Lennox and Dawkins are poles apart in their world views, and there is really no loser or winner. What I found interesting is that Dawkins really has no clue about Christianity, he does not understand anything about the death or resurrection of Jesus, or the justice of God, and yet he likes to pontificate about how bad religion is. If he wants to rail against God, that is up to him, but he should at least know something about his subject, but he is clueless. He needs a 101 primer on Christianity, before he puts pen to paper. After all, I can see where he is coming from, as an atheist, but he has no clue about his Christian opponent. The best that he can do is to ridicule the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which he calls "petty", and on the origin of the universe by a designer he calls "magic". I do not find that a strong argument, I could equally ridicule his theory of the origin of the universe by calling it "happenstance".

The best quip by Dawkins was that there are only two views on the universe, one is that it is eternal the second is that it had a start, and the bible got it right, a 1 in 2 chance. The argument by ridicule again. The corollary to this in the existents of God debate, is that we have a 1 in 2 chance of getting God right, and Dawkins gets it wrong. He uses the "who created God" argument, which is an infinite regress, and he quite happily believes in the multiverse argument to explain the anthropic principle, which is not provable by science, it is metaphysics. Now Lennox is not the best apologist there is, but he fights his corner well. I can empathise with both sides of the debate but really to me there were no winners or losers. Has science buried God? The debate did not answer that question. In science, God keeps on popping up, all very annoying for atheists (anthropic principle, information in DNA, the start of the universe, origin for the laws of physics, origin of life etc). Dawkins expects a naturalistic explanation, an act of faith, I believe, time will tell. I agree with Dawkins that we need more Darwin's and more Newton's, who can think outside the box. Will modern science allow that, no. All in all, a fascinating debate and well worth getting by both sides.

Also worth getting is the "The God Delusion Debate: Richard Dawkins Vs John Lennox" held in Birmingham Alabama.

For more background see Dawkins and Lennox's books The God Delusion and God's Undertaker: Has Science Buried God?

A good discussion between these two minds. Lennox's book is far more persuasive than his side of the discussion. In fact the discussion didn't really cover the main subject matter of the book.

Having read both the 'God Delusion' and 'Has Science Buried God' I know which contains the most science!

Lennox gets Dawkins to admit that Jesus did exist. Also, he admits that currently science can only explain one out of the three big questions posed by our existence... 1) How did the universe come to be how it is 2) How did life come about and finally the one that science, Dawkins believes, has answered 3) How did we get to humans from initial life forms.

Lennox unfortunately weakens his case, particularly in Dawkins eyes, by believing that God, in the form of Jesus, came to earth and died on the cross. When the Bible teaching can be understood that Jesus was a unique person - formed from genetic contribution from Mary and God - and he was in reality the son of God (not one part of a pre-excistent trinity). This has far greater explanatory power and is logically more consistent. The Christadelphians (formed in the mid 1800's) hold this belief.

Creationists suffer from the propoganda that they do not believe in evolution. The aspect of evolution that has been proven, and is accepted by Creationists, is that of survival of the fittest and natural selection. The problem arises when evolution is used to explain the explosion of intelligent information that is required to move from simple (actually far from the case) to more intilligent forms. This is well covered in Lennox's is book.

I'm sure those buying this DVD will have read the book. If not I would highly recommmend it as it is an excellent and contempory evaluation of where science has taken us to.

one of my favourite books of all time. It beautifully and logically disposes of Richard Dawkins' arguments against the existence of God. It also introduces a lot more material to support the existence of God from scientific viewpoints. Highly recommended

With a BSc and PhD (of over 40 years) in Chemistry I believe I qualify as a scientist!

I fully recommend this book as a balanced and convincing presentation to the assertion of my title.

This is a great dvd and truthfully shows whats wrong with having false belief systems. Both speakers present themselves well and their arguments are also well presented.
They both are on absolute polar opposites, one believes in God the other does not. I am on Gods side. The DVD is well produced and it is of a decent length. I recommend that everybody should buy it.
