Very heavy on the electric bill !!
on 25 January 2016
We have had this a week and have decided not to use it as it is too expensive to run. It is very efficient. It really pumps out the heat, however we followed the instructions and turned it up high for 10 mins then reduced it down to the lower setting and also turned the thermostat down to a lower level. Read the other negative reviews about electric consumption and believe them; this thing really eats through the electricity and for this reason we can't afford to run it, even on the lowest setting. We checked the consumption on our electric meter. After just one hour it had used 45 p of electricity. Over the course of a week this meant our electric consumption went up about £15. We instead plugged in our older oil filled radiator which instead has 3 heat settings, the lowest being 800W. We then checked the energy consumption on this and it was about 18p for the hour. So despite the fact the lowest setting on the oil filled radiator is just over half of the lowest setting on the new oil free heater the new heater managed to use nearly 3 times the electricity.
