A fantastic, uplifting collection of superbly-performed music! I defy you not to feel proud that these musicians are British sevice men and women. The sound has great quality and depth and really draws out the emotions on every track. Well done to Lt Col Jones and his Coldstream Guards' band for providing the best military band music album of the decade!!

I bought this CD for my dad for xmas, and he played it immediately whilst I was present. I was very moved. It features well known songs, produced and played brilliantly by the Coldstream Guards. I would highly recommend this CD for anyone who is interested in the British Military, and even for those who do not usually listen to this genre. You won't be disappointed.

As a member of Newcastle Branch, Coldstream Guards Association, I was already aware of the very high standards attained by this band - the best in the British Army and therefore the world. This recording that I have added to my (considerable) collection of LP`s and CD`s by the Coldstream Band is astounding - even by their ability, and gives us a wonderful range of music to please a vast range of tastes. This collection of tunes proves that the Band holds true to the Regimental motto - NULLI SECUNDUS, Second to None!

This promises to be a great album for anyone's collection, especially as a Christmas gift. Graham Jones and the band are one of the best military bands in the world today, much in demand at live events including the 2009 Birmingham Tattoo at the National Indoor Arena where they will perform the day before this cd is released. I hope these stirring tracks are on their list of items to perform live at the Birmingham Tattoo.

Grab your copy before they all sell out as this promises to be a Christmas stocking filler for all those who like pomp and pageantry and some excellent military music.

I know very little about classical music and even less about band music, but this is wonderful to listen to. The choice of tunes for this album is pure genius; a mix of hugely famous movie themes, eternally beloved classics and even a medley of stirring naval music.
From the first track, Where Eagles Dare, emotions are stirred by the electrifying sound of this most famous of military bands. 633 Squadron will have you humming along; I Vow to Thee My Country will have the hairs standing up on the back of your neck; The Dambusters will have you booming out "Durr dur dur dur dur de dur dur" like a fool; The Great Escape and Colonel Bogey will have you whistling merrily and then the beautiful and emotive Nimrod will cause you to feel tears pricking at the corners of your eyes.
This is an album for anyone who has ever served or dreamed of serving and for anyone who, like me, is deeply moved by The Cenotaph every year. It is an album for anyone who loves good music, be it classical or otherwise.
And above all, while listening to this you know you are listening to the Band Of The Coldstream Guards!
I've just ordered two more for my Dad and father-in law.

One of the best military bands I have heard. Downloaded onto my iPod, Play in car CD. Would like to have seen some of the royalty being sent to 'Help for Heroes' fund. But still well worth buying, you can listen to a military band anytime.

This CD is an example of what a good military band can sound like when its recorded by a mainline record company like DECCA. These are guys that do pop music stuff so they know how to pump the sound and make it loud! This is what they have done to the Band of the Coldstream Guards. The music selection also adds to the excitment. This is a fun collection of what could be termed pop military music. Some famous movie tunes from the past mixed with classic works by Walton and Elgar those most English of composers. Even Kennenth Alford gets thrown in with his ubiqitous "Colonel Bogey" march. Casual listeners and those new to military band should find this a fun way to listen to music they might not normally. If it draws in some fans for the military band sound then all the better! Graham Jones, the Director of Music for the band has done a clever job promoting this item in the UK. The CD was released in support of service charities for the British army and one suspects this has added to its popular public appeal there. It will be interesting to see if HEROES catches on here in the USA. Perhaps if it does might we see a sequal of pop marches or something along those lines with the same supped-up sound for the band. A fun CD for sure with some exciting and moving music.
