Before I get into this I will say I love this phone. As a business user I've had a number of smart phones over the years from Nokia, HTC, I-Mate etc and this is far and away the best in terms of build quality, aesthetics, functions, reliablity and ease of use.
I use it to sync with our corporate exchange server and it works a treat except - and here is the first gripe - if you use subfolders with your inbox it doesn't notify you when you get mail in a subfolder - only your main inbox so if you are "organised" and have emails from certain people going automatically into subfolders you have to look in each one to see if you have new mail.
The functions on the phone are comprehensive with media playing, camera, etc all as standard although - gripe 2 - the camera sometimes fails to work and you are left looking at a blank screen.
It also has office functionality built in so you can view, edit and create word and excel documents. The only problem here - final gripe - is that it won't read office 2007 documents and the option on the phone to upgrade the software so that it will doesn't seem to work.
I hope that was useful. I know it seems like I've concentrated on the gripes but I still wouldn't change it for the world. A fantastic phone at a great price.

i think this is probably the best phone i have ever owned, it has everything. the only problem i have had with this phone is that the sensor broke for the slide, sometimes it would register that i have opened the keyboard even though i have not touched it. unfortunately i did not have insurance but as this phone is soo good it comes with a 2 year warranty so it is being fixed as i type.

I've been using this phone for just over a week now.. its great! it feels like a quality product, nice and weighty though not so heavy that it feels awkward in your pocket. The metal surround makes it look a quality product too (if this phone is a little outside your price range the E51 offers a similar look and feel). The nifty slide out keyboard has taken a little getting used too, the keys seemed small and awkwardly spaced at first but with a little time and perseverance i'm typing full emails without any problems. Setting up your email is simple too, literally email address and password is all thats required.

The only things that have let it down for me are the camera and the irritating introduction of a slim style USB port.. why do they do this!!!

if you're looking for a great little communicator that can handle email, text and calls with the added function of GPS (which gains a location very very quickly and works great with google maps) then this phone is for you. if the camera is a big deal for you then its probably best to look elsewhere.

A CNET review slated the battery life, which put me off a little at first. so far I haven't had any problems, having left bluetooth on, made and received calls plus texting and emailing with a little bit of sat nav-ing thrown in, the phone made it through the day safely.

This is a fantastic phone. I've always been a Nokia user and this phone follows with the traditional features you might expect. But it gets better, Nokia have obviously been looking at other manufacturers and they've "borrowed" a few features, such as a slightly improved predictive text, and integrated it really well.

There is a time to use the slide out keyboard and time not to - if you're writing a reply to a text message - use the front number pad in predictive mode as it's actually quicker with your thumb than using the keyboard. However, when you want to compose a message, go back and change things, add strange words etc. use the slide out keyboard. The slide out keyboard is great; you can quickly find every symbol you need without getting frustrated. It too can be used in predictive mode, but I use it in non-predictive mode for the above reasons.

And to protect your phone, purchase the Original Nokia E75 Suede Case Cover Black. It's a snug fit, the strap pull works effectively, looks great and it protects the phone really well.

This has been my first Nokia phone after a break (I used the N95 8GB for a short period of time) and while it would not have been a natural choice (I got it from my employer), I was definitely willing to give it a crack, after a far from ideal experience with my previous iPhone. After several months of using it I would assume that if you have used a recent Nokia phone and been happy with it, this might be a fair replacement - you will know what you are getting and if you like the way Nokia has been building their phones recently this one will not disappoint. If you are new to Nokia or have not had their handsets for a while, the experience is likely to be less positive.

My own experiences with the phone are fairly mixed so far.

On the bright side some elements clearly point to the handset being manufactured by a phone centric company - the quality of tone is very good, for instance. In some aspects there is more care and attention lavished onto it than say an iPhone (i.e. alarm tones are very well chosen for a fairly pleasant waking up). It's of a reasonable size and weight, the keyboard is a nice feature (although it does not allow for typing of a speed of a Blackberry or the iPhone), the camera is OK most of the time (not something you want to use outside of good lighting conditions, though), the battery has a fairly good lifetime (about 3 days of average use) and recharges very quickly, it looks to be reasonably sturdy (although the somewhat wobbly keyboard detracts from that impression). It will open office documents, too (but not 2007) and the synchronisation is very straightforward and trouble free. So far for the strengths.

On the other hand there are several problems I found, which make the phone about as annoying as my previous experience with the N95 8GB.

The usability is pretty poor for a start - having been used to never needing a manual or having to look long to find various functions, especially from pre-Symbian Nokias, this phone is a bit painful. Do not get me wrong, after a while of having it you do learn to use it but it is usually neither intuitive, nor straightforward and other handset manufacturers have moved beyond this level.

Putting music onto it is almost as much of a pain as with the N95 and nowhere near as problem free as with the latest offerings from SonyEricsson or the iPhone. Adding music into Ovi at least is trouble free this time around (an improvement) and does not take long. On the other hand getting the music onto the phone becomes a hit and miss affair, with music occasionally simply refusing to copy over, with no real explanation for the failure. A computer restart often helps but it is a tedious way of going about it. At least it no longer converts the music into some super low bitrate before transfering it.

It does not seem to allow downloading Apps to the computer and transfering them from there, either - they seemingly have to come via direct download to the phone (a pain if you do not have unlimited data with your contract or if the computer connection is much faster) but I could be wrong about that.

Finally, and somewhat surprisingly, the reception is relatively poor. Having been used to the iPhone (itself not known for good reception) it came as a shock - in many buildings it is actually quite hard to get a reliable signal.

In essence it seems like Nokia refuses to move with the times and I do not find it surprising that Apple, RIM and some of the Android OS handsets are eroding Nokia's once dominant smartphone share.

I needed a phone for business purposes. This fulfilled all the day to day needs and then some.
Very pleased with my purchase

i loved the form factor (side slider and front keypad).
The reviews said it was good, ofcourse that was just after launch.

What you should know;
its not a well supported device by nokia
subsequent software upgrades have caused more problems than they solve.
a certain portion of memory is been used up and nokia engineers cannot explain it (i sent my first device in to be checked and after two weeks they couldn't fix the problem and had to send me a replacement which currently has the same problem)

verdict:
for a pricey 335pounds it retailed for a long time and the lack of support, getting this device is not worth it.

The phone does everything the manufacturer claims but it has one Achilles heel. It is completely rubbish unless you are in a really strong signal area. My old nokia E51 works pretty well at my desk and at my home. When moving the sim to the E75 I have to move around the building just to get 1 bar and I can never complete a call with it. I have since found other reviewers who report the same issue so I am pretty sure it's not just a faulty unit. Customer support at Nokia gave me a really patronising response telling me how to identify the signal strength by looking for the bars at the top of my screen and saying it must be a provider issue (hence, completely ignoring the fact I told them I was using the same sim card). I have asked them which of their new products utilises the same antennae set up as the E51 and they just haven't responded so it looks like this formerly loyal nokia fan will be getting a blackberry.

Very happy with this phone, I got it to upgrade my E51 so I could type emails quicker. I havent had any problems with it, works like a charm. The upgraded OS edition on these phones is smoother as well, I like the new file search facility and the internet radio on it. Cant fault this at all. Setting up gmail was really easy too with the email setup wizard. Now my phone vibrates every time I get an email, very convenient. Very good the way the screen tilts from portrait to landscape when you tilt the phone (in-built sensor). And the front camera was a nice bonus I didnt know about which has made it possible for me to do free video calls with the Fring application.
Works great with SIP calls as well - a feature too many phones lack.

I was going to write a long story about previous phones and my decision to buy this model but I really cant be bothered.

I've had this handset for around six months now and of those six months it has probably spent 3 months working and 3 months being worked on by Nokia/ Carphone warehouse.

I admit I may well be an isolated incident/one off bad handset. But in my opinion, this phone is fragile and consists of too much plastic. The qwerty keys have a habit of sticking- specifically shift rendering any other function on the phone indecipherable.

I wish i hadn't bought this handset. Even more so I wish that I didn't have to go back to Carphone Warehouse tommorow morning to send it away for several weeks again.
