I bought the vinyl version of this record when it came out and have been waiting all this time to get 'the best studio versions' of these tracks (1 to 9 only!) and in the proper order, rather than having to make do with the poorer versions on newer compilations. If you only want to buy 3 Nice CDs, go for this plus Elegy and Five Bridges (equal first).
This was an attempt to prolonge the Nices album sales. It consists of remixes from the first album, an awful first stab at " Daddy where did I come From" and the first version of Azriel, also truly awful. So what do you get for your money? A grab bag of remixes and 2 terrible early tracks. Not for completists , not for fans, not for me. All you need are the other albums and leave this where it belongs in the past. It was a cheap vinyl album when it came out it should be cheaper now, but it isnt. Dont bother you dont need it.
Oh and all the tracks on this cd were on the Virgin original releases of Elegy and 5 Bridges. America is on here and in a slightly different version to the one on Ars Longa, but still not worth splashing out on this release for.
The remixes by the way are not really that different to the originals, the only exception being on The track The Thoughts of emerslistdavjack, where the full version of the track is used which is about 2 minutes longer, but doesnt contain any further improvisation and differs mainly by the longer intro and an extra verse
