I had one purpose when I ordered this caravan, a nice New Years gift for my daughter. But I got really confused when I got the package. Should I give it to my precious daughter or keep it as a collectible for myself? The Caravan is awesome. It's filled with detail, the kitchen, drawers here and there, little boys room and secret compartment under the rug, oh man, I'm so excited. Car on the other hand is very straight forward, seats and wheels that's it. Nonetheless it was necessary to complete the picture.
In short "A Must Have" if you are collecting Sylvanian.

Very pleased with this set. You certainly get what you pay for with Sylvanian products. A great addition to our Sylvanian collection. Very sturdy and chunky ideal for little hands like my 2 year old. Caravan comes with a box of bits which Ive put aside until shes older, she would just lose them. The caravan opens out to make easier to play and has sitting/sleep area kitchen and bathroom with shower. The roof is also detachable Car has 4 seats with 2 car seat attachments and a suitcase that clips on the rear. Xmas morning I was delighted to find that when you opened the boxes you find a fully assembled car and caravan with no twisty bits just protected by a clear plastic wrap which simply pulled off. No knife, scizzors etc required. Other manufacturers take note! I wish my 8 year old had liked Sylvanian and not Barbie as the Barbie dream house and accessories look so cheap and tacky in comparison.

I bought this toy for my Granddaughter who absolutely loves it. I thought the lid of the caravan was not very strongly hinged and comes off a bit too easily but other than that its well made and very detailed.

We bought this for our four and a half year old daughter for Christmas, and she loves it! The small amount of 'self assembly' (not too many stickers to apply) was carried out before wrapping it up, so she had immediate fun with it when it was opened on Christmas Day, bearing in mind she already had some animals to go in it. It all seems quite sturdily built, and the roof hinges are designed to allow the roof to snap back on easily in the event that it gets popped off. Lovely details inside, and lots of features for little hands to explore - bunk beds, fold-out toilet, shower, folding ironing board, drawers, floor storage compartment etc in the caravan; baby seats and picnic basket in the car. Sylvanian items always seem rather pricey, but in our house they are very frequently played with, and we are sure they will be for many years to come.

This item is great value and is strongly made. My daughter will have so much fun playing with this item. Sylvanian families has been around for years and I think it will be for many to come.

Bought for my 8 year old daughter. Initially I was put off Sylvanian toys purely because of their price but found this at a reduced price so gave in. Lots of teeny tiny play pieces so much better for the older child. Stickers have to be added which is a bit of a fiddly job for Mummy to do. It is a lovely set though and played with right, it will last many years.
The Sylvanian Caravan and Car consists of two separate vehicles, a car and caravan to state the obvious and can either be used individually or joined together so the car tows along the Caravan. An added bonus to this set is that unlike many other of the Sylvanian buildings and sets, this one actually came with lots of accessories and didn't need to be purchased separately. This is one of the issues that puts me off SF usually, especially the dearer buildings which after forking out for, you're left with an empty shell unless you stump up even more to furnish it. In this respect, the Caravan is an ideal starter to the collection as many of the pieces can be used later on in houses etc and is in itself complete immediately.
Setting it up was pretty simple as it more or less comes complete, except for the obligatory fiddly decorative stickers I always manage to make a mess of. We did struggle to work out how to attach the tow bar, and that still remains a little bit of an issue and doesn't really connect that well meaning it often looses the caravan when you're pulling it along by the car. The accessories are also a little fiddly, with tiny plastic glasses and cutlery joined in little frames and needing separated. But after twenty minutes we were up and running and my daughter settled down to play.
I have to say that my overwhelming feeling about this toy was quality, in this case you really do get what you pay for. It's made with sturdy and durable plastic, the detailing is fantastic and the finish is high standard, particularly the gorgeous racing green car. Playing with the toy is an adventure and I was just as excited as my daughter as we investigated the nooks and crannies. There's bunk beds in the ceiling, hidden compartments, an ironing board that folds from a cupboard and a flooring section which can be expanded when the caravan is opened up, giving much more space, then folded away again to close. It has bathroom, kitchen, living and bedroom areas that are all designed to be compact and practical yet are still utterly charming. The thought that's gone into the design is amazing, I'd love to stay in a caravan like this myself!
Over the last two years my daughter has had many hours of fun with this set. With her own Christmas vouchers she bought a BBQ set which came with a lovely table and a camping set, both of which compliment the car and caravan beautifully. Despite the hours of play it still looks immaculate and has proven that my first impression was right. I firmly believe that this toy will get years of use, and then will be put away for possible grandchildren someday. It has that timeless, classic appeal and I personally find just looking at it makes me happy...it has that nostalgic beauty about it and is still functional and durable.
While I am confident the high quality materials are up to the stress of younger children, this is one toy where I wouldn't advise ignoring the recommended age of Four Years. Some of the pieces are really, really tiny and could definitely be a choking hazard to younger children and little siblings. Lucy was five when she received this and I'm glad she hadn't asked for it earlier. To keep the little pieces of food and accessories safe we have a tupperware box to keep them in, and I insist she packs everything up properly with this toy when she's done playing to avoid loosing anything. I also don't think this is a great toy to take elsewhere out of the house for the same reason.
Overall I'm more than impressed with the Sylvanian Caravan and Car. It's without a doubt one of my favourite pieces from my daughter's collection. She's played for hours with it; it's fun, interactive, charming and with the addition of other sets grows and becomes more as your collection expands. While at first glimpse it seems expensive, I think genuinely the quality of the toy speaks for itself and it's worth every penny. If you're not planning on keeping the toy once your child outgrows it, they also have an excellent resale value. Personally this is one I plan to keep long after my daughter finishes with it, I love it almost as much as she does.

what an excellent item from sylvanian families, my daughter absolutly loves this, there is so much detail. my daughte loves taking her families on holidays with this, there is everything you could ever want from a caravan.
you open up the roof and side to reveal a very well equipped kitchen area with sink, stove, drawers, cupboards and even a fold-out ironing board. There's a seating area which converts into a double bed and coffee table. There are 2 further fold-out bunks on board and towards the rear there's a shower room with fold-out loo and a wash-hand basin.
it includes loads of other little things, like knifes and forkes, cups, kettle, oven mit, baking tray, food, there is well over 30 small items included.
the caravan gets towed by the car, the Car can easily accommodate a family of two adults, two children and even two babies who have their own removable car seats!
It also includes a removable picnic hamper which is stored on the back of the car.
i highly recommend this product. many hours of fun to be had with this. great from little imaginations

I bought this set for my daughters 8th birthday, she likes the sylvanian families but I thought she may be losing interest. The car is basically just that, but the baby car seats are rather cute, that attach to the back of the front seats and it seems rather robust. The Caravan on the other hand is brilliant. So many parts to it, all the features are fab. The extra pieces are cute, but so tiny, they will inevitably at some point end up in the hoover! Only gripes are that one drawer doesn't fit properly and while taking them from the frames, the two tiny knives snapped, but these are just minor quibbles.
My daughter loves it, as does my 3 year old son, infact I think he'll play with the car more. Their Grandad lives in a caravan and he saw it and loved it too.
She will be getting the seaside set soon and will go alongside this set brilliantly.
The prices are very high, but the attention to detail and play value in some of these products are worth it. I did manage to get this a bit cheaper than normal, so not bad.

I am very disaapointed with the quality of the caravan in particular. The roof hinges have broken and my daughter (5 year old) is not rough with it by any means; nor has she played with it alot. The car seems better and more durable.
Overall I was expecting more durablitly, so am disappointed for my daughter.
