4.0 out of 5 stars LE T4XI RIDES AGAIN!!!!
If your a lover of the Taxi films then your gonna love this, Taxi 4 was released in France last year a whole ten years after the first movie hit the screens and their still hitting top gear.

Admittedly my favourite Taxi movie is number two, that one topped the first installment and even though number three was good it didn't beat the second one. Now the gang is...

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better
I am a hard core fan of all the Taxi movies because they are funny and all the stunts are real, which makes a difference from the Hollywood American hero crap. T4xi is a very funny movie, the jokes are good and its a good film to sit back and watch. Unfortunately Daniel doesnt really have much to do in this 4th installment as its mainly about Emelien on a mission to catch...

The original Taxi film was an absolute classic. Taxi 2 and Taxi 3, while still enjoyable, were increasingly far-fetched and cartoon-like with the taxi sprouting wings and snow tracks. I was really expecting this to continue the trend, but instead it has dumped all the gimmicks and concentrated on the characters and the humour.

Nearly all the familiar characters are here, with the notable exception of Daniel's wife, and all the old jokes are here too with plenty of new ones to keep them company.

If you enjoyed the original film but were put off by the sequels then you really should give this one a chance.

I guess there is only so far you can take a good film, enjoyable but becoming more like an ad for peugeot than a good story, where was Lily?

I was a little worried after watching Taxi 3 that the series was going down hill. At less than a fiver it was well worth the punt just in case it was an improvement and whilst 1&2 remain the best, T4xi has renewed my faith in the series.

Taxi is never going to challenge you intellectually, unless you are learning French or find it difficult to read subtitles without tracing your finger along the words but if you're in for a couple of hours of silliness with the odd car chase thrown in, then go for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars If the Taxi franchise or French comedy more generally is your thing..., 26 Jan 2012

This is the fourth installment of the Taxi series and will consequently not be as fresh in concept as the first one has been 10 or so years ago. The same elements - Samy Naceri as a taxi driver with a need for speed, Frédéric Diefenthal as a slightly chaotic cop without a driver's licence and the German contribution to the Marseilles' police department in the form of Emma Wiklund; together with a pretty swift french cab (switched from a Peugeot 406 to a 407) - are still there for those who have enjoyed the three previous installments.

The story is now less focused on the driving scenes per se, with only one of them being of any length, and more focused on the comedic value of the story and the fairly hopeless police department bungling yet another case. The typical action sequence at the start (present in all the predecessor movies) focuses on football this time and is just as well done.

The duo of Naceri and Diefenthal - now both family fathers - are slightly aged but hardly more grown up, and are tasked with retrieving a Belgian bank robber, who manages to escape at the start of the movie. In terms of action / heist this is more Wasabi [DVD] [2003] than Heat [DVD] [1995] and while completely over the top, the effect is very amusing.

Do not bother if you are looking for a highbrow comedy but if you are in for a couple of hours of easygoing French humour, and if you enjoy the odd car chase (or simply have nostalgia for the series), this is a good addition. If you are new to the Taxi world, you will benefit from seeing Taxi [1998] [DVD] first - with the others being more of the same, rather than significantly building on the story (still enjoyable but not in need of being watched in sequence).

Okay, this isn't "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" but I would watch it again, plenty to chuckle about & not very PC. Like Tinker Tailor you need to know the background story for it to make sense. You are meeting old friends, pour yourself a large red (don't over fill the glass because you will spill it), put your feet up & enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Taxing T4XI, 28 Oct 2010
I am a Taxi fan owning all 3 previous releases of Taxi. Sad to say that Number four is a step too far and does'nt have the speed of taxi 1 to 3 the actors look tired and seem as if they took the money and ran or in their case took the money and crept away. Luc Besson either had nothing to do with this or also took the money. If you get round to making a follow up put a few more stunts and a bit more comedy into it. If you are a hardened fan of Taxi 1 upwards prepare for dissappointment if you are tempted to purchase it remember it is region one and only sub-titled in english. Shame...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother catching this Taxi, 10 Feb 2013

The last and least of the Taxi series by some margin, Taxi 4 ditches the action and settles for just the comedy instead. There are virtually no action set pieces but an excess of sit-com style comedy routines. Marion Cotillard is conspicuous by her absence for the first time in the series.

Although the first two were the best in the series, even the third one is way ahead of this one in quality. It just doesn't hold the attention and feels redundant - the franchise was a box office sensation in France but this poor effort proved to be the last one. Unless you are looking for a straight comedy with no action, you can skip this entry.
