Some of the reviews of this album tend to put normal funkateers off. True its very early stuff and does contain a lot of do-wop and soul numbers. Do not however miss this. You must be a fan of all things Clinton I think to appreciate some of the tracks and it definately is not the album to start your collection.
If you are aware of most of the bands recordings you will love this as you can see where some of the later stuff comes from.
There are C & W tracks on it (done only the way George could) and even a track with bag pipes. Beware the bagpipe track " The Silent Boatman" is one of Georges greatest ballad tracks and you wont stop playing it.
A cracking album not pure funk by any means but all the more enjoyable for the variation on it.
Buy it you will not regret it.

Being a Funkateer since my teens (I'm now 53yrs old) it's great to have the debut album from George and the boys. Very soulful and full of the wackiness that was to come, Osmium is a slight hint of the ensuing genius of Mr.Clinton. I'm playing it constantly since it arrived. Funk Gets Stronger as it goes on-a!!!!!!

I have been a Parliament fan for more than 35 years. I had never heard this release until I purchased it through Amazon.co.uk. This release was a strange, weird, and musically satisfying experience that I am truly enjoying. It captures the wild and out of control part of the embryonic funk mob. Great release!

Buy it! A very early parliament album with a very different sound . Which is a good thing. Since the late 60's sound on this album in my opinion is a lot better than the more disco influenced and crazier later stuff... Also check out the early funkadelic albums.

Wacky, joyously erratic madness, with strong undertones of funk, wild guitars and theatrical rock. A long way from the later Clinton works, but recommended nonetheless.
