As a longtime user of Canon equip, I usually get Canon-brand accessories. In this case, however, I think that Canon's RRP of £65 (for a battery!) is a bit too much. This Energizer is a quarter of the price, and I honestly can't see much difference. On my G11, I'm getting about 500 shots on a single charge, which is about the same as the Canon battery. If I do get another spare, it will probably be an Energizer again.

Canon's own brand of battery is incredibly overpriced. There are lower priced brands out there but this item comes in at a reasonable price and is performing well. Holds the charge for a very long time and doesn't show any signs of deteoriation. A very good buy.

I was going to order the Canon battery but read the reviews on this one and thought it was worth the risk as it is a lot cheaper. I have only had to recharge it once as it lasts as long as Canon's original battery. I have no idea why Canon charge so much when one can be sold a lot cheaper and with the same performance.

This arrived quickly and as described. It appears to be well constructed and fits perfectly. It has charged with no problems and its charge appears to be lasting as long as the original. Used heavily and recharged several times since buying. No regrets so far, so 5 stars.

I bought this as a cheaper alternative to an original Canon battery for my G12 camera. I've used it alongside the original now for about 12 months and can tell no difference in longevity. In short I'm finding it to be a perfectly good and much cheaper alternative to an authentic Canon battery.

I have two of these, one for 7 months and the other a few weeks. Both appear to be as good at holding their charge as the Canon original, and though it's too soon to write about the long-term I expect them to be reliable. Twice when the G12's battery ran down sooner than I was expecting, I thought ah, it must be the Energizer, but both times it turned out to be the Canon.

I decided to stick with known brands of good quality like Energizer, Hahnel or Duracell after having been sold two counterfeit "Canon" NB-7Ls (one positively confirmed by Canon Europe Anti-Counterfeiting). My experience with cheaper batteries hasn't endeared me to them, and I would never trust a fake battery with possibly dodgy innards.

Thus it was somewhat of an unfortunate coincidence that the new CA7L arrived just after I'd been looking into identifying counterfeits, and right away I noticed three things on it that raised doubts about its authenticity. One, it didn't look anything like the one I already had, or the one in the picture on Amazon. Two, there was no protective cover in the gas pressure release area (the small recess where the casing is very thin and hence vulnerable). Third, there was a grammatical mistake on the front - the 2nd "Do" was spelled "DO". A fourth indication of a fake would have been the quality of the packaging, but here I found no fault whatsoever. Still, for peace-of-mind I contacted the supplier, PowerPlanet, and Fameart, the UK distributor whose name was on the guarantee.

PowerPlanet promptly sent a comprehensive and reassuring reply explaining that the Energizer distributership had in recent years passed to a Dutch company, and perhaps the latest batteries were now sourced from another manufacturer. That didn't explain the spelling mistake. But, then I had an opportunity to borrow a new Duracell DR9933 (supplied by Duracell Direct with a 3-year warranty).

It was identical to the new CA7L in every detail (other than labeling and price). Same colour. They weighed the same to a tenth of a gram, and neither had protective caps in the pressure relief recess. Although their specs differed slightly, performance-wise the two were indistinguishable. (There is a similar battery from Uniross as well.) The new CA7L costs less, but the DR9933 has a 3-year warranty - the Energizer two.

Seems no different to Canon original battery apart from the price. Lasts just as long as original. Product arrived properly packaged and sealed

I have a Canon G12 camera and supplied NB-7L battery. The charge on the Canon battery seems to last and last, despite constant shooting and reviewing. This is the problem, however. Will it eventually become exhausted just when I need it to keep going? Accordingly, I looked extensively for a second battery so that I could confidently use up the Canon battery without fear of running out while out for the day etc.

I selected this battery after extensive research on Amazon. My choice was made on the basis of very favourable user reviews and highly attractive price compared to the Canon equivalent. It was delivered (free) well in advance of the 3 - 5 days promised.

It charged up perfectly, fitted perfectly and performed well on a day out. I can't claim to have used it over several months for thousands of shots in arctic, saharan and tropical conditions etc. That said it will be perfect for what I need.

Great product ... Excellent spare

Seems to hold charge very well - difficult to distinguish between this and the canon version.... Have bought two and have had no problems

This Energiser battery pack performs as well as an OE Canon battery at 1/3 the price. You only have to think about it a little to come to the conclusion that Canon outsources it's batteries from a supplier such as Energiser, puts the Canon brand name on it and charges 3x as much for the privilege. I must say that I would only trust a well known brand such as Energiser, GP or Duracell to give the performance of the OE item, cheaper unbranded batteries probably wont last as long and may even damage your equipment.
