5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
One of the best Green Day Songs ever! Don't listen to any of the bad reviews, they're all just stupid anti-Green-Day fools!!!

Yes, it's only three chords, but American Idiot's only four and look how successful that was! Why over-complicate perfection?

A great track and great single to get, even though I'd rather buy the full 21st Century Breakdown...

1.0 out of 5 stars The most repetitive song since American Idiot, 25 May 2009
This review is from: Know Your Enemy (Audio CD)
"Know Your Enemy" at first sounds like "Extraordinary Girl" (drums) but before you know it things kick in and you discover a song thats more tedious than "American Idiot" (if you can imagine such a thing). If you ever see "Know Your Enemy" live you'll probably notice the same old tricks; BJ depicting crucifiction with his body, singing hays and wows... nothing seems to have changed, they're just the same pop band.

not the best song from the new album but still excellent, though the single cd is a bit pricey for 1 song...the version with lights out and hearts collide as bsides is a lot better. Still worth a 5 star though in my opinion :)

3.0 out of 5 stars More or less the same.................., 7 May 2009

Not amazing but by no means rubbish either! If it came on the radio i'd listen to it and tap along but its by no means the inspirational stuff they got famous for.

I love Green Day and American Idiot is one of my top 5 all time albums, but in attempting to do a musical sequel they may have stepped on their on toes.

Tis song is good but it feels as though it's missing a verse and the chorus seems a little simple.

Green Day still rule though!

1.0 out of 5 stars Or how Billie Joe Armstrong forgot the basics of effective songwriting. Again., 9 May 2009
This review is from: Know Your Enemy (Audio CD)
Take three chords that, when put together, form the most trite melody imaginable. Throw in some anarchy-by-numbers lyrics, ooh something like "Do you know the enemy? Do you know your enemy? Well *God* I know my enemy, wa-ooh". Repeat ad-nauseum. Forget to write a chorus.

And so begins part 2 of Green Day's laughable "political" phase. With this, like the equally impotent 'American Idiot', they rally hard against that which has earned them millions and allowed them to live like kings. It's every bit as believable as Phil Collins trying to empathise with the homeless. And every bit as odious.
But, like some wiser gents once said, "rebellion, it always sells at a profit".
