Licorice Kiss is a gorgeous album from Juliet. Her original material is beautifully written; great lyrics, at once honest and poetic. The title track is one that will stay in your head for days on end! Juliet's voice is warm, sensual, and very emotive. I also love the cover versions on the album, particularly a heart-wrenching version of Here Comes The Rain Again, which is quite possibly the most lovely version of the song that I've heard.
The album is a great introduction to Juliet's brand of smooth, soulful 'glam-jazz' for those who haven't heard her work before, and a great follow up to her previous albums for those who have.
If you get the chance, go and see Juliet in concert, as she's also a very engaging and sophisticated live performer.
Thumbs up!

I really enjoyed this album. Juliet has a superb voice and her self-penned songs have strong emotionally resonant themes. She has classy supporting musicians who combine groove, improvisation and swing. Her own compositions are complemented by a stunning, loping version of "Tainted Love" which surpasses the original. In short, absolutely brilliant.

Juliet Kelly's latest release `Licorice Kiss' is a showcase for her considerable singing and songwriting talents. Whilst remaining firmly rooted in a jazz sensibility, Juliet Kelly takes an easy flight into a range of other musical genres, including pop and reggae, sounding equally at home in all of them. She brings a fresh sassiness to `Tainted Love' and manages to eclipse Annie Lennox in the poignancy stakes in her searing rendition of `Here Comes The Rain Again'. One is left wondering why Juliet does not yet enjoy wider acclaim: it is surely only a matter of time.
