Better than my Brother-in-Laws £5000 set..,

No kidding it really is better than his 5 grand set. Although I must admit that his set is nearly 2 years old now, never the less his is fully HD compat with a seperate tuner/dvd/hdd.Oh!, and his dosen't have freesat either... The picture is superb on the LF7700, the sat tuner is really sensitive and I have been able to tune both the "freesat" service at 28.2 degrees and Arabsat ARD6 I think at 28.0 degrees without having to move the 45cm dish. Loads of control for personal sound and video settings, USB card reader for viewing photographs and listening to Mp3's. There is a network RJ45 socket on the rear for future use, streaming video via internet/freesat according to the bumf.. Nothing wrong with the sound either, loads of bass from the downfacing speakers and the highs are catered for by "hidden speakers around the frame. I suffer from Tinitus and have found listening to the set a lot easier than our previous Sony 32" bravia. A nice touch too is the swiveling base/stand, facilitates easy removal and plugging in of cables. 3 HDMI sockets, 2 Scart, composite video and RGB inputs, 15 pin VGA for the old computer too, plenty of scope there. SPdif audio out, shame I don't have a decent sound system with SPdif input... All in all a great set. I am highly delighted as is my wife, she actually stays up to watch programmes on it, rather than watch the tv in our bedroom, as she used to.

I have spent ages looking at TVs pondering which one to buy and why and trying to understand the different models and codes. Eventually I decided on the LG 42 because it had the best picture in the local supermarket. I haven't got a digital ariel but do have a sat dish so I bought this model expecting to use the free sat to get the free channels and also to upgrade to Sky HD. Now I've got the TV it has tuned in 117 digital channels easily and the picture is so good I'm wondering if I really need the HDTV subscription or the free sat, I will probably hook up the freesat to see what the free HD channels are like and then make a decision. I am seriously impressed with the picture and the sound quality, plus the whole ease of use. The fact that it swivels to give you access to the plugs and cables is a real bonus. The WII also looks great, even thought it doesn't support HD and is only going through a scart. The kids want to be on the WII all the time and the best thing is when we're all on it and you only get a quarter of the screen it's big enough for you to really enjoy it. Very, very pleased with this. It has exceeded my expectations.

Nice looking set easy to set up to receive the channels, bit fiddly to fix stand.Great picture but disappointing sound, you will need optical lead to connect to amplifier or scart to audio lead. However you only get your surround sound in freesat mode, if you have virgin or sky box you get the tv sound. I would like to alert you to the con merchants offering to install, I phoned 3 of these sites and they quoted "from" 450 to 630 pounds and extra for the dish. I found a local chap who did it for 150 inclusive and that was for two rooms ( freesat box in other). If I could go back and do this order again, I would buy a freeview tv and a humax freesat recorder box( excellent) that way you would have a few more stations plus a recorder for less pounds

The TV set arrived on time and was packed well. After setting the TV up, a quick affair, plugged the power and switched on. Setup to download freesat (remember you need a satelite to receive freesat) and freeview channels was very simple indeed. The picture quality is great, however, the eco technology is not my cup of tea as it darkens the picture quite noticeably. Other than that it is easy to use no faffing about with setting up your video or DVD players just plug in the scart plugs to the scart sockets on the TV and powering on either device automatically selects the appropriate AV channel. I purchased this as present for my parents and they are very pleased with it and have had no problems using it (both in their 70's and not technically minded). If I had one gripe it would be the sound system it is adequate for my parents but I woould like something more sophisticated to give stronger tops and bottoms. I think I will have to purchase a cinema surround sound system for them (me).

The picture and sound quality are excellent, the design is excellent and the TV is definitely worth the money - best of all is that it basically installs itself (in terms of locating the channels and other devices). The reviewer that mentions the base being fiddly to fit is correct (it's pretty hard fitting screws down holes that are only the width of a screw driver and are inches deep) but the hassle of this is made up for by the quality of the TV. It is a bit wobbly (but then it is a big TV), and this with the hassle of fitting the base 'blind' is why I gave the product 4/5 rather than 5/5.

Ordered Thurs got Fri! plugged in and started up and was easy to use! i dont have a sat dish so couldnt pick up Freesat but i have V+HD so i wasnt too bothered about that. Watching in HD is fantastic - you really sense the depth - playing games in HD is great too - i have an older XBOX360 so it doesnt have the HDMI port so i am using component but its still blinding!there is one problem tho, and maybe its just me but i cant get it to work at 100Hz?? V+ is still at 50Hz and Xbox is 60Hz but still looks amazing and i have only had a few hrs with it so when i get back from work i'll try n sort that out - also when u have been watching a HD channel then go to a normal channel there is a noticable difference but most channels have a HD channel out now anyway so watch it on that! so if ur looking for a HD TV to play games and watch HD tele buy this! if ur just wanting to upgrade to a bigger TV and dont have either SKYHD or V+HD I'd look elsewhere! but for me 10/10

This is a fantastic TV. Ordered from Amazon and it was delivered in less than 24 hrs. My husband set up the TV in less than 20 minutes. Great quality in all aspects. Picture is superb. Sound played direct from the TV through Sony 5.1 system is grrrreat!! Everything about this TV is excellent. Cannot recommend highly enough. Good value for the money.
