ok in this world you get what you pay for, the reason i brought this set was because of the look...i needed a photo of a new kitchen that we had just finished building and the knives looked great in the pictures:-)
Now as soon as i looked at the set i saw they are not stainless...this is not a bad thing...stainless steel will not give you the sharpest blade just one with longevity,
These knives will not survive dishwashing or emersion for too long,
that is apparent from the photo's in the adds but with a little love and care these are fantastic knifes,

Use them, and then rinse the blade and a little spray with anti bacterial and dry, and they will last a very long time.

i was a butcher and have knifes that are very expensive but im finding im using these knifes more than any of the others, they just need a little bit of care.

You get what you pay for and in this case you get a set of fairly good knives. I found them to be quite light weight but as long as you treat them OK you should not have a problem. They cannot be dish washed and I would recommend that you dry them as soon as they have been hand washed.

The knives themselves were sharp enough out of the box and have been sharpened once since I bought them. They are good enough for normal day to day use, ideal for a student perhaps.

These knives are excellent for the price, they arrived sharp and as long as you get into the habit
(as you should with all sharp knives) of wiping them off, drying and putting them away straight after
use instead of dumping them in the sink or dishwasher, you will have good knives that will last and all
for such a ridiculous price!

Some of the reviews on here make me laugh when they comment about dishwashers and so on, no one with half
a brain should be subjecting any half decent knife to that, it is pure laziness and bad habit.

The only bad thing about those knives is this black piece of plastic which, if you won;t be delicate with them will crack... replacing it with some other, more durable material would make them absolutely briliant. Still worth to buy them.

2 stars - look good but the blade FALL OFF after a few months.. like i say cheap and cheerful although these are not a long term purchase, become very dangerous as the blades slip out from the wood after a while. gutted as i like the look although the quality is not here. Not for the long term planners and dangerous if you have young children. if for show and to be used rarely go ahead as a long term knife set steer clear. I am now on amazon looking for another set of knifes. real shame.

For the very reasonable price these are an excellent buy. Provided one accepts the fact that they are not Dishwasher safe, they present no problems. I particularly like the fact that they are carbon steel and consequently can be easily sharpened on a stone with just a few strokes. My experience of stainless steel knives is that they are expensive and obtaining a good edge is difficult and in some instances impossible. For me these work well and do all that I require.

I picked these up because it seemed like great value. The truth is you get what you pay for! They are not sharp out of box - won't even cut paper, and as someone had rightly pointed out they are not chisel ground, as is often the case with Japanese knives. The steel is very soft for a knife - tons of flex in the blade! So they will blunt quickly. And worst of all, not one of these blades is straight! They all curve to the right - looks like they've been sitting on one side and warped.

Bottom line - save your money and invest in one good utility knife with a good steel.
