So much potential...,

This game has great potential, but ultimately fails to entertain as much as it should. Its a turn based strategy/civilisation building game, very similar to "Civilisation: Revolution" on the DS and to a lesser extent "Age of mythologies" (Both of which are great DS games). You maintain your cities by collecting resources and training troops to conquer other cities. It has the potential to be more sophisticated than the two games above, as you can set formations of your troops (which afects the outcome of the battles) - in addition to this your armies cost resources to maintain once produced (unlike the two aforementioned games), and your armies will ultimately mutiny and desert you if you dont have adequate resources to pay them. All great stuff. The problem with this game is a major one (and is the reason for the 2 star review - otherwise it would be a solid 4 star) - like similar games you have a combat animation when you enter into a fight. Unlike other games this sequence is needlessly long, (literally minutes sometimes not seconds!) presumably with the intention of educating you regarding the formations you have created, etc, and to my continued annoyance, you cant turn it off. I cannot stress how annoying this becomes (particularly as you are likely to need multiple battles to win any scenario) - I have even found myself avoiding battles (i.e. taking the diplomatic route with enemies) to avoid this sequence! A good game that should be a great game

I did not like that you have no control over the battle lengths, on the whole it was ok, but can get a bit boring after a while. It takes a year to build things, so I would jump on to get everything I wanted built. I enjoyed it initially, but found it got boring after a while.

This was originally on the PC as 'LEGION' and has been transfered brilliantly to the DS. Each campaign will take you hours to complete even on the easiest level and the four mini games are very educational and fun. Hope you enjoy your's as much as i do.

As a turn based game, it's OK. Ultimately it's about numbers. Get a good size army and you will beat your opponent, even if it takes a couple of battles. This game isn't the best but its not the worst. Give it a go. It will please most people but not all.
