To all Box-set enthusiasts,,,
I would strongly recommend buying this as it's witty dialogue and decent acting cast make it good DVD entertainment for home viewing. Second only to the "West Wing" series!

I missed this series when it was first aired. My daughter kept on about it and insisted my wife and I borrow her box set as she "knew" we would love it. And how right she was - we were hooked almost immediately. It is comedy drama with emphasis on the comedy and there are many laugh out loud moments. William Shatner shows how underrated he is as an actor and his comic timing is sublime. James Spader plays the supersillious and supremely confident Alan Shore with great panache. Both characters are unconventional, if not anarchic, in a world of stuffy corporate lawyers and reactionary judges which provides the vehicle for much of the comedy. There are serious issues dealt with here, but not in a maudlin way which we are used to seeing in so many US shows. needless to say, we are going to get our own box set.

I bought this series off the back of other viewers reviews.
They were not exagerating. This series is a gem. Very addictive, we end up staying up really late watching 'Just one moe episode'. The entire cast are superb the writing is slick and clever. I love it !!!!!!!

With brilliant casting, actors blatantly enjoying their respective roles, great interplay between characters, humour that is sometimes sly, sometimes dark, sometimes laugh out loud, here you have a TV series that is nigh on perfect.

Add to this outstanding guest stars [there is a long list over the whole series] making appearances, story lines that are as pertinent now as when the episode was first made and some very serious social issues that are tackled without fear.

James Spader and William Shatner [in what is surely his greatest role] are sheer joy especially when they are on screen together. Some characters you may come to loathe or hate, which is exactly what good acting is about. This is one of the all time box sets of TV series of any genre, and ranks up there with Blackadder.

This is probably my favourite TV show of all time. Just hilarious.
Spader and Shatner are an incredible team and it shows.
The extra's arent the greatest thing ever, but this is every episode of every series, and that was good enough for me!

I'm not a fan of American drama on the whole but this has everything. It's outstandingly funny, poignant, sad, relevant and tackled some of the main issues that beset America during its run (2004-2008). Set in a prestigious law firm, Crane, Poole & Schmidt, internal battles are put aside as the individual lawyers battle often nonsensical cases brought by plaintiffs battling corporate vested interests or power hungry district attorneys. Add into the mix more than a sprinkling of sex that often misfires and the series never fails to excite or surprise. There are too many standout characters to name them all but James Spader as the mercurial Alan Shore and William Shatner as the bombastic but dementia affected senior partner Denny Crane ("never been beaten - never will") are wonderful. For me the series really didn't take off until Candice Bergen arrived on the scene as senior partner Shirley Schmidt to bring order to the firm whose bottom line is always the cynical 'how much can you bring to the firm?' The interaction between the characters is well drawn; however I find the variety of judges that the firm battles with to be a highlight - Henry Gibson plays one to whom everything is just "shocking". The issues they tackle are/were topical and relevant - good example is when Denny Crane is prohibited from flying with his latest sex object because Homeland Security can't distinguish him from othe Denny Cranes. Finally you're always kept in suspense as they don't always win!

Boston Legal is one of the most clever and entertaining American TV series ever produced - in my humble opinion of course. The social commentary it offered of the Bush Administration and contemporary US society at the time was courageous, extremely humorous and seemingly honest to the average person-in-the-street ... or more accurately someone from a similar western society, but not living in the States. Highly recommended as a collectors item for those who appreciate the likes of Band of Brothers and other outstanding TV series that can be watched over and over again.

I do like James Spader and his dry humour. He plays Alan very well... throw in William Shatner for good measure and what do you get... A great TV double act..
Wish they made more episodes.

Simply the best xmas present I've given myself in years! Would strongly recommend to anyone who's caught any of the episodes on Sky (CBS drama) over here. Absolutely brilliant! The best US TV drama i've seen since the original series of ER. If you're a fan of classic older American series like "Taxi" & "Hill Street Blues" or "Perry Mason" you will love this to bits. Beautifully written, acted and directed, it has all the ingredients of a "Noughties" classic. Drama, pathos, biting humour and topicality. In short, virtually no subject is too taboo for this series, and all masterfully conceived and dealt with by it's creator David E. Kelly. A stellar cast includes, a brilliant James Spader, William Shatner (in possibly his finest & funniest ever role), the beautiful Candice Bergen & a wistful and wonderful Renee Auberjenois. I have rarely seen anything produced on this side of the pond to equal or surpass it for entertaining and thought-provoking T.V. Shame on the Beeb or Channel 4 for not latching on to it whilst it was still running. I'm sure it's sorely missed by those like me who've enjoyed every single episode. A must-have bit of television history. Buy it, own it, love it, bequeath it to your children and recommend it to your friends! Ten out of ten and please bring it back - or let's have a spin off in the near future.
