4.0 out of 5 stars Ex-Pro 120W universal laptop charger
I would be the first to admit that the Ex-Pro range of universal laptop chargers are built to a price and therefore are of slightly inferior quality to those manufactured by the laptop manufacturers themselves. 3.0 out of 5 stars It's got a fan in it!
I've been around laptops since they came about, and this is the first laptop power supply I've seen with a fan in. I'm guessing it's because it's a switched mode PSU similar to the ones in a desktop PC rather than the big transformer type, and they need more cooling.
Trouble is that it's noisy. It's probably noisier than the fan in your laptop, and a more annoying...

I would be the first to admit that the Ex-Pro range of universal laptop chargers are built to a price and therefore are of slightly inferior quality to those manufactured by the laptop manufacturers themselves. The quality of the materials and the thoughtfulness that went into its design falls below OEM standards but that is not to say the Ex-Pro range is poorly built or unreliable. Quite the contrary, they make a perfectly acceptable replacement or spare.

The 120W version does 'buzz' but it's not too intrusive alongside a laptop fan which maybe louder. There is a slightly cheap feel to the Ex-Pro charger but considering it costs considerable less than an OEM model this is to be expected. Also, the range of voltages available does not necessarily agree with those published by Amazon. However, the odd 0.5Vdc difference is not really an issue.

What attracted me to Ex-Pro was its universal design. It can provide power for a huge range of laptops because its output voltage can be adjusted in small increments between 12 to 24Vdc and is equipped with 8 detachable adapters/heads which fit on the end of the dc output cable and plugs into the laptop.

It is probably fair to say that it would be easier to list the number of laptops the Ex-Pro universal charger cannot power than the number of laptops it can power. The maker boasts that the Ex-Pro universal charger is the only charger a laptop owner would ever need - change the laptop, not the charger - and in all probability this statement is true. However, my first preference would be to use an OEM charger, if available, but as a 'spare' the Ex-Pro will do just fine. The 120W model is the highest power charger in the range.

Trouble is that it's noisy. It's probably noisier than the fan in your laptop, and a more annoying type of noise, too (unless mine is a dud).
The whole thing is a bit low quality, which is a shame as I have the slimline 65 watt adapter from the same company and it's great, so Ex-Pro can do it when they try.
There are only 8 adaptors and they're of the two prong connector type which look amateurish and flimsy compared to the three prong and cylinder connectors.
Nice that it's got a 12v output though as that's rare.
I'm keeping it as it'll only be used in emergencies, but if you're looking for something to replace a dead OEM power supply go for the big fat conventional type.
If you do get one of these, don't block the little exhaust vents at the end!

I actually wanted a power supply for a flat screen TV but they were too expensive. This does the job at less than half the price. Just make sure it can cope with the current draw. This can.

The product is very good, im using to replace a printer power supply. Only down side the plastic slider cover broke today but I took it out and can vary the AC pd using a screwdriver to move the switch positions.
