I think trading standards should be investigating this!
It might have been once made from a piece of 12ft cable before it was manufactured, but is now little more than 2ft coiled normally.
When stretched normally it will go to about 4ft or 6ft if you really force it but no way is it anywhere close to 12ft.

It was only a few pounds so i cant be bothered to send it back, but that's not really the point, i ordered a product that was not described correctly and now have a phone cable that it not much longer than one that comes with a phone handset.

DO NOT BUY.

Whilst it's my fault for not fully reading the product description (it's only two sentences long!), when I saw the title..."12ft Coiled Handset Lead (White)" and read the first sentence...I assumed it would be a lead that would stretch "comfortably" from where I had fixed my phone to at least 12 feet away. In my defence, had anyone read the description in full and then spent an hour thinking about it...I'm sure others would have also assumed the if anyone wanted to use the phone from 12 feet away...it would be a comfortable stretch for the lead.

However, you "really" have to stretch the lead to get to 12 feet away and I haven't actually done it without disconnecting the lead from the phone - at best, you can use the phone from about 10 feet away without considerable tension in the stretched lead.

At £2.25, it's no big deal but thought I'd point this out in case someone wanted to buy it with the intention of taking the lead to its limit and not have a lead that's stretching to the point that it could decapitate someone's head should you accidentally let go of the phone ;o)

If you're in the market for a white, coiled cable you won't do much better than this. It is at once, white, coiled, and cabley in nature. The coilage is consistent, even, and allows for the cable to occupy a much smaller space than one of similar, uncoiled 12ft length. The whiteness is that of a solitary cloud floating unhindered in an otherwise unsullied blue sky, of a freshly-laundered linen sheet gently fluttering in a light breeze on a summer's afternoon; of a smile of an overpaid hollywood starlet. It's also a cable, that allows the handset of your phone to be connected with the main body, and for your ears and mouth to be connected with a human on another phone. NOT COMPATIBLE WITH APPLE PRODUCTS.

Don't usually write reviews here, but this just needs to be said: this cable is a normal telephone cable, a decent replacement for a usual short one. How it manages to get away with being advertised as 12ft is beyond me - not sure if its their fault or amazon's. They are on to an amazing thing here. I, like many others, both a. didn't bother to read any reviews previously, as at £2.20 for a 12ft telephone cable, you pretty much think you know what you're going to get (wrong!); and b. because of the low price, it really is not worth the hassle of sending back. So at £2.20 a pop, and advertising it completely incorrectly, they are making a shedload of cash off hundreds of doubtless disappointed buyers. Most of whom probably can't be bothered to say so here (I almost didn't myself). Great business model.

Keeping it short and simple: the product came early, nicely packaged, came in good condition. Perfect for a spare lead for the phone, good length pretty much does what it says on the box.

It was great to get a longer lead on the telephone handset, as the standard one was so short it lifted the phone off the table when you answered it! So now it is comfortable to use.

this is a standard cord not a 12 ft cord as advertised if you are looking for a long hand set cord do not go for this item as it has clearly been labled as the wrong item !

This is a well priced and useful item which does exactly what it promises, albeit that it does not exactly stretch to the full given length length. It does however allow me to continue chatting to my daughter on the phone whilst leaning away from the phone point to make a cup of tea at the other corner of my kitchen. Perfect for me.

I actually bought this as a gift for a friend always cooking and chatting: She told me it was exactly what she needed: It will recoil when not in use, and allow you to double up chatting all afternoon with prepping a chef d'ouvre in the kitchen: ENJOY
