This was purchased as a bedroom tv.

The picture quality is fine, although with the backlight turned up mid-way the blacks are a bit washed out and the contrast suffers. Turning the back-light down helps, but makes the image a bit dark for daytime viewing.

However, since this is mainly used to fall asleep to at night, this problem is not really significant.

The only other point to be aware of is that the sound is pretty puny (as the specifications would suggest). Again, as a bedroom tv this is not a problem, but would be worth thinking about if it's intended for use in busier rooms.

The design is attractive and simple in white, and it fits in well when wall-mounted without the stand.

The remote control is chunky and easy to use - the useful buttons are easily located (especially the "sleep" timer, which is used a lot!).

Not perfect for the most demanding viewers, perhaps, but excellent if you can live with the compromises which come at this price point.

Overall, a great value product, which I am very pleased with.

I have just received this TV and had no problems at all tuning all the freeview channels in. It has found more channels than any the other TV in the house so don't be put off by a review that focusses on this issue. If your signal is ok then the freeview tuner is fine.

I have another Toshiba 19", this one seems better as it switches on much faster, is easier to switch between analogue and digital (I use analogue to get the Sky signal), switches quickly between radio/tv and has much better picture options to fill the screen (16:9, 4:3, 14:9, auto, cinema). So at first look I am very pleased.

I received this TV today having ordered it a couple of days earlier (once again top marks to Amazon for great service).

I wanted a TV to replace the aging 14" CRT portable that I have in the kitchen and the Toshiba 19DV616DB ticked all of the boxes in terms of size and functionality. Setting up the TV was simple as it is with most LCD TVs these days and the the TV had no problem picking up all the analogue and digital channels that I am used to seeing. I did some minor adjustments to the picture and audio settings but pretty much left all other settings at their default.

The picture quality is fine for a TV of this price as is the audio quality. I think that at under £200 you can't really expect stunning performance. If I want top quality audio and video I'll go and watch my Panasonic telly in my lounge which cost nearly 4 times as much.

The remote control is easy to use although a bit bigger than I had expected.

Overall a great package and if it performs as well as my 5-year old Toshiba LCD telly that I have in my bedroom then I will be more than satisfied.

Ordered the Toshiba LCD/DVD in white for the kitchen. Free delivery within two days by Amazon was first class - thank you. I was a bit worried about other comments regarding poor sound and lack of Freeview channels, but I have found these concerns to be unwarranted, It looks great in the kitchen, blending well with the units and was a lot cheaper than other manufacturetr's 'white' products.

I found it easy to tune in and sounds great. Picture quality for the price is excellent.

Picture quality is excellent, easy to set up and remote control is easy to use.

The only bad point would be the volume . However as it is a bedroom telly, it is acceptable.

Good little performer if you are looking for a second (or third) TV for a spare room, it does everything it says on the tin. Would buy again!

We are very happy with this TV, straightforward to set up, good picture and easy to operate with a fairly comprehensive remote. Choosing it in white makes the set much less obtrusive especially as we have it fixed to a wall.

Further to my original review I feel I must report that there is a known fault on this Toshiba model which I note has been mentioned by another disgruntled customer and that is that the TV occasionally switches itself on when left on Standby. We thought it was us initially forgetting to switch it off, or maybe another remote somewhere in the house was activating it but no, it does it on it's own like it did about 02:30am this morning!!
I had earlier contacted Toshiba and they came back and confirmed there is a fault but.... they said Amazon have taken responsibility for the warranty. I contacted Amazon and they said try resettting to default settings on the main menu. I couldnt find this but tried the software update facility. Whether that does anything just via the aerial seems debatable and as it has just been shown last night, it didnt solve the problem. I've now got to decide whether I should pursue a replacement or perhaps a refund or just put up with the problem and try to switch off TV completely each time.
Other than that the TVs Great!

Good Picture, Dissapointed with sound. Now that Toshiba have "left the country", not sure what to do to try & increase volume

The Toshiba 19 inch LCD/DVD Combi with freeview TV is ideal as a child's bedroom TV. More importantly it has to look good for the teenage age bracket - ours was pleased with the look. The tv was very easy to set up, and the DVD player is a bonus. Good value for money.
