ALREADY AN OLD BORE

SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN REVIEW ONLY
The original modern warfare was like playing a superb Ridley Scott-directed war movie; the campaign this time out is like being stuck in the middle of a bad Michael Bay movie.
If you're not into multiplayer, seriously, this game is a rental.
Never mind that it's so short (4-5 hours? If that?) I found that it's full of lame graphical glitches, gameplay bottlenecks, weirdly messy sound design, silly-serious voice acting, and a very patchy atmosphere. It's difficult to describe - it simply never comes together. I guess lightening doesn't strike twice. The story telling has regressed into macho posturing, and there is no real point of entry - a moment when you feel like you're entwined inside events, rather than just shooting whatever's in front of you.
I started playing Bayonetta right afterwards (it's on the shelves already in Germany) and this incredible, mind-blowing, insane, ridiculously entertaining and completely modern Japanese game shows MW2 up for what it is: a middle-aged bore.
