1.0 out of 5 stars Dont touch this with a barge pole!
The Toshiba AV range uses an LG LCD screen.

Problem.

This screen has a problem with lagging.

The worst effect of this is that when you look at a face you can see a red line just under where the hair meets the head.

Problem. When the person moves you get red ghosting.

If there is action forget it...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent TV, 2 Jun 2009

This review is from: Toshiba Regza 32AV635DB 32-inch Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV with Freeview and Resolution+ (Electronics)
Considered buying a Sony Bravia or a Panasonic Viera as they generally get the best reviews but they were a little more than I wanted to pay. I also wanted a 5 year guarantee so bought the Toshiba from John Lewis Online.
I've had it for a couple weeks now and I'm very pleased with it. The picture quality is very good particularly the colour rendition and the clarity. It's a new 2009 model coming out in April and it has features on it like Resolution+ , Metabrain (whatever that is) and Activision II that were previously only on higher spec models - this is the budget model in the 2009 range. The resolution is 1366x768 not the full HD 1920x1080 but from the reports I've read the difference is not noticeable on TVs 32" and below, so why pay the extra for full HD? There is a full HD version, RV635 series that costs an extra £100.
Set up was very easy, the menus are straightforward with loads of options to customise the picture settings and the sound quality from the inbuilt speakers is good. There are 4 pictures modes that you can set up 'Auto', 'Dynamic', 'Standard' and 'Movie' which you can easily toggle through to find the best picture to suite what you are watching. Overall an excellent TV at a very good price.

Everything about this TV is great. The instructions re set up were easy to follow and I had the TV working within ten minutes of opening the box. The handset is easy to work and the overall picture is superb. Indeed my son in law reckons the picture quality is better than his Samsung model which cost £100 more. I like the look of the set. It stands well. I also bought a TVonics digital video box to go with the TV.The two go well together and I can happily record up to 220 hours of programmes.
Very pleased with the Amazon delivery service. I ordered the TV on a Sunday evening and received it (as promised)on Wednesday lunchtime. As had opted for free delivery I was delighted with the quick delivery.

Had a look at lots of other 32inch TV's of various makes but this one seemed to be good value for money and a great price on Amazon. It arrived quickly and was very easy to set up. I am very pleased with the picture quality so would recommend this TV.

4.0 out of 5 stars Impressive for the Price....., 19 Jun 2009

This review is from: Toshiba Regza 32AV635DB 32-inch Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV with Freeview and Resolution+ (Electronics)
Similar reasons to the first reviewer in the purchase of this TV.....I didn't want to spend over £350 and we watch mostly freeview and basic DVD's. I must say that i'm impressed, i considered the Panasonic x15 model but that is £100 more, I considered the Toshiva RV635 model but the 1080p screens tend to stretch freeview even more across the screen. The colours and blacks are great. The resolution + features actually does a great job in cleaning up freeview signals. So it's 4/5 for me....my only negative is that watching the tv from an acute angle isn't a great experience as it loses contrast. Please don't buy the cheap stuff from tesco or asda....this is a great TV for the money!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazed!, 4 Sep 2009

My Toshiba 32AV635DB arrived yesterday, and wow! I really was amazed at how good the picture was! The picture is just so sharp, it actually looks like everything is HD When your sat a reasonable distance away. I sit about 8 feet from it (When im in bed) and the picture, as one of the other reviewers said, really jumps out at you!

The interface is really easy to use, although i had to play with the settings for an hour or so before I was happy. I have a Toshiba DVD recorder with Freeview and the guide was painfully slow! The EPG is always up-to-date and really easy to look through. The sounds is actually pretty good too. I have the bass quite high, which I think makes quite a lot of difference
I primarily use the TV for my PS3 and I was amazed at the quality! With it not being 1080p, I don't think it makes much difference although I'm a bit confused because my PS3 recognises it as 1080p
I Have a Sony 40W4500 in my lounge, and actually the quality of Freeview on this Toshiba is better then my Sony!

I was a little put off by the price of This Toshiba at the beginning (Because you normally get what you pay for), But honestly i strongly recommend buying this TV! It is such good value, and i love how the Toshiba logo glows like the Sony.
My only withdrawal is the fact that the remote control looks a bit cheap (Like a Hotel Remote) But this isn't a major issue as it's well laid out and functional.

I was first considering the Toshiba 32AV615DB, but for £10 more you get so much more features, function and better quality TV! I really do recommend buying this TV!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice TV, 25 Jun 2009

Bought this after reading a professional review on trusted reviews website. So far, impressed with the quality for £350. Wasn't going to spend more on a TV for the kids in the conservatory. SD freeview is good and upscaling dvd via a hdmi cable is also good. It's my first LCD TV so can't really compare with anything else. The Resolution + is worth the extra £50 compared to the AV61 series.

Of course nothing's perfect - no way to delete channels from the EPG, brightness and contrast of photos using the USB method is very high, and I can't seem to be able to change these settings separately for each input.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb! Better than the Bravia and Samsung models!, 12 Nov 2009

I did a lot of research and did a lot of viewing comarisons before I decided on the Tosh. I compared it (picture quality) with equivalent Sony Bravia and Samsung models. The Toshiba won hands down! 2 scarts and plenty of HDMI's also.
I am very critical when it comes to motion blur, especially during live sport and the Toshiba NO MOTION BLUR! (it was very noticable on the Sony and Samsung models). Fantastic buy!

This is fine TV with great picture quality. Sound quality very acceptable, ample adjustments are available for picture and sound via easy to understand menu. The price from Amazon is very competitive and the delivery and service are first class. The only slight negative I can detect is that accessing a channel via a card in the CI slot is not straightforward, it does work but not really (I think) as it should. I have two other LCD's (LG and Sony) and they both accept a viewing card without any problems. However, having said all that, this is a fine TV which will not disappoint.

To all concerned with buying a 32" HD tv with Freeview, this tv is literally amazing, for the money i wasnt expecting it to jump out at me the way it did, i bought it with a HDMI cable so i could play my PS3 with it and the sharpness of the picture running with game mode is fabulous!

Watching blu-ray movies is quality aswell, plus the sound levels of the speakers is impressive for their size!

It was bigger than i expected also but the bigger the better, easy to tune freeview and the tv guide is always up to date!

Defo 100% worth it for the money, im buying another one for my girlfriend for her birthday ;)

This TV is perfectly fine for 'normal' TV watching. It was simple to set up and I've got a Sky box, Xbox 360, PS2 and laptop hooked up. I don't use HD so can't comment on it. The sound is slightly tinny sometimes but that's to be expected from most TVs these days; home cinema sound systems wouldn't exist otherwise! Well impressed and would recommend to anybody.
