4.0 out of 5 stars Great size and beautifully made
I've been using the HP DV2 for about three weeks now and overall I'm very satisfied. I was looking for something more full featured and a bit larger than a netbook, but didn't want to lug around a full size laptop. The DV2 is the perfect size in that it is very thin and light weight, but the 12.1" screen is just superb and much easier on the eyes than a 10" netbook. The...

1.0 out of 5 stars Fan unbearably loud!
The laptop looks and feels top class. However the fan was on at full speed all the time. Sent back, got another one and fan was on at full speed most of the time. Even with updated bios nothing changed. It was impossible to be more than 20mint at the laptop... After switching off, a humming sound in yours ears for an hour or so. Returned it too, like the previous one. Two...

This review is from: HP Pavilion dv2-1010ea 12.1-inch Laptop, with AMD Athlon Neo Processor for Ultrathin Laptops MV-40, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD, Ethernet, WLAN (Electronics)
The build quality on this machine is outstanding- even the separate DC/DVD drive is perfectly constructed and looks very nice. For this level of quality I think the price is very fair.

Positives: Quality, size, display, responsiveness
Negatives: battery life could be improved. I get about 2.5 hours in average usage.

There is an important error in the technical description of this machine, not only here but on many other sellers' sites. This particular model, the dv-1010ea, does *not* have a HDMI output, even though though one is listed in the technical specs and shown on the photos. At the moment it seems that HP does not a sell a version of the dv-1010 with an HDMI port in the UK market.

HP's own UK site has no references to video outlets for this model at all in the text (not even mentioning the VGA outlet, which is of course present) but the photos there, too, all show an HDMI port next to the VGA one, with no mention that it's not present in models currently on sale.

That might be a deal-breaker for some people. But for those who don't mind paying a premium price for high-quality build, a robust but stylish case, an excellent keyboard even by HP standards, and a superbly clear (if glossy) display, and who aren't deterred by the poor battery life (though HP and this site are up-front about that particular issue) this is still a machine worth considering.

Very light and portable. Though it's quite small, the keys are sufficiently large for typing to be no effort. It's powerful, it loads and shuts down quickly and it's also very cute...
