4.0 out of 5 stars Digital sketch book
This is a good little camera which is best regarded as the modern equivalent of the Box Brownie,or a form of digital sketch book.It is small and fits in the pocket easily. The sound capture is rather good, and the colour rendition is quite accurate. As long as you don't expect it to be amazing it won't let you down.It only has 5 mega pixels, but that means that it has a...

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish.
I bought this camera because I needed one that had infra-red night vision for a recent `most haunted' night. I was really disappointed with this little camera. The infra red is very weak and could only pick up objects literally straight in front of you, not even across an 8ft room! The viewing screen is very small and very pixelly making it hard to keep up with your...

4.0 out of 5 stars Vivitar DVR-510N, 26 Aug. 2011
This review is from: Vivitar DVR510N FLASH SD Digital Camcorder - Black (Electronics)
I have just bought this and I think it's ok for the price.
I have a 4GB SD card in it and depending on the quality option, I can shoot either 1 hour or 2 hours of video.
I can take a massive 83,189 pictures.
Not bad quality but nod too good either.

Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Vivitar DVR510N FLASH SD Digital Camcorder - Black (Electronics)
I bought this camera because I needed one that had infra-red night vision for a recent `most haunted' night. I was really disappointed with this little camera. The infra red is very weak and could only pick up objects literally straight in front of you, not even across an 8ft room! The viewing screen is very small and very pixelly making it hard to keep up with your subject.

The memory is rubbish and I also have a 2GB SD card in there, which I considered to be ample - lasted 2 minutes MAX!? I have no idea why! I was literally deleting a file as soon as it was made, for a few 5 minute movies stored you're going to need at least 32gig of SD memory!! (which would cost more than the camera itself!)

This camera is a total waste of money, the camera is better on my phone (except for no infra red). So, if you're after something with night vision... keep looking. If you're after something that captures your family which you would treasure for the rest of your life, I suggest giving this camera a wide birth and invest in a HD camcorder instead.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap curio, 26 Dec. 2010
This review is from: Vivitar DVR510N FLASH SD Digital Camcorder - Black (Electronics)
This "camcorder" earns it's 1 star as it was only £25 delivered, I personally would prefer 0 stars but that is not possible.
The video quality is similar to a sony phone I owned 5 years ago, and that was poor back then !

Pros:
It comes with built in 2gb memory
It shoots in the dark using Infra red
The Usb connector is built in ( it is really short and awkward to connect to the pc, so it is a pro and a con ! )

Cons:
Very poor video quality
Bulky
Small, old school lcd screen

This was a gift for a 10 year old girl, she thinks it's ok, I think it's very poor indeed.
It's a kids toy basically.
