4.0 out of 5 stars Great sound shame about the cables
Using my HT-BD1252 with a Samsung 40" series 6. All works as expected including remotes ( one reason that i went all Samsung ) .
Negatives first ;
1. The cables for the speakers are WAY too short . Had to use rear speaker cables for front pair, then had to make up new extended cables for rears. Come on Samsung on a product like this how much would it cost to...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, look elsewhere,
Purchased this home cinema to go with our Samsung LED TV. The set up was easy and the first Blu Ray it played was awesome. Picture and sound were first rate.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great sound shame about the cables, 23 July 2009

Using my HT-BD1252 with a Samsung 40" series 6. All works as expected including remotes ( one reason that i went all Samsung ) .
Negatives first ;
1. The cables for the speakers are WAY too short . Had to use rear speaker cables for front pair, then had to make up new extended cables for rears. Come on Samsung on a product like this how much would it cost to put longer cables in the box ???
2. This unit is powerful and will get hot! My old tv cabinet was semi enclosed. Bad idea . Make sure its well ventilated.
Positives ;
seems to be well constructed on outside and sound quality is excellent, you may need to fiddle with settings to get it right for you . And the power output will shake your fillings out!
Really pleased with unit even more so when you consider the price.

Purchased this home cinema to go with our Samsung LED TV. The set up was easy and the first Blu Ray it played was awesome. Picture and sound were first rate.
The minor niggle of not being able to see the controls (embossed on the top front) when the unit is in a Hi Fi cupboard was a frustration. Also frustrating that it would switch on the TV when an iPod was connected to it.

Within a few weeks the player had taken it upon itself to switch off mid film. To restart meant going back to switching it on again, wade through all the coming soons and legal notices etc. It was now becoming a chore to watch a film. In due course it wouldn't switch back on.

Amazon were great at replacing the unit under warranty. The new one arrived and was a straight swap.

Straight away we had problems. Sound was good, but picture just pixellated, even on brand new sealed discs. Tried everything including new firmware etc. The last straw was when it took seven attempts and forty minutes to start a Blu Ray disc. Then within 20 minutes it froze!

Amazon have refunded us. However I am wondering whether it is Samsung or the Blu Ray format, to the point I am not rushing out to replace it I am so disappointed with the format.

Amazon have been very good and I have no complaint about their service, hugely disappointed with Samsung's Blu Ray offering. However the TV is still working and is quite exceptional.

4.0 out of 5 stars HT-BD1252, 7 Sep 2009

Samsung HT-BD1252. Cinema surround sound, FM Radio, Plays CD, DVD and Blue Ray Discs, however its pretty selective and quite a few CD's DVD's and I had one Blue Ray that refused to play.

Up and running sound wise pound for pound and if you don't compare it to true Hi-Fi it's pretty good.

The HT-BD 1252 bristles with high tech features, the difficulty being that the user manual I found unclear and confusing. The biggest error being that if you use this sound system ith the latest Samsung 8000 series TV you need an optical connection for sound, the manual does not mention this!

Just one other thing, when in use the cooling fan does create a constant low level noise.

All round and once sorted this Samsung 5:1 cinema surround sound is powerful and sounds good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blu-Ray Home Cinema, 19 Nov 2009

I bought the Samsung HT-BD1252 Blu-Ray Home Cinema system to go with a recently purchased Samsung UE46B8000 LED television, and I must say they go well together. Sound from the HT-BD1252 is good with strong base tones from the sub-woofer. Disaster movies are a particular highlight as the base is terrific for the action scenes. The system is well built, with a good finish for a comparitively low-end system. Set-up is easy but the cables for the tall-boys could do with another 2-3mtrs. All-in-all a good system that I would recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars At last a Blu Ray home cinema system, 26 May 2009

I've been on the look out for a Blu Ray home cinema system for a while but there is not many reasonably priced ones on the market yet. Bought this one a couple of weeks ago and am not dissapointed, the picture quality is fantastic but what really stands out is the sound quality, it is awesome. One small draw back I've found is that sometimes the sound is out of sync with the picture, which apparently is to do with the encryption type. There is a feature which allows you to eliminate this issue but it can be a bit fiddly messing around with sound delays to get it in sync, surely this could be done automatically??

Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Samsung HT-BD1252 5.1 ch Blu-ray Home Cinema System - Black (Accessory)
Received one and was broken upon delivery, had extreme pixel and artifacts appearing on screen all the time. Sent back and received new one very quickly however i was also seeing alot of these pixels and artifacts through a movies and documentaries plus after an hour or so the units fan can get very noisy. This annoyed me as blu-ray is meant to be crystal clear. Sent the second unit back and asked for refund after 2 months of persevering. Used to love Samsung now not very happy. Amazon were great and very understanding. I suggest avoiding this at all costs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Warning, please read, 24 April 2010

I had to return my entire system for a refund (and am still considering what alternative to get).

The biggest problem was the same as reported by another reviewer. When playing Bluray from time to time the picture breaks down and pixellates, or gives bright flashes and streaks of colour. I thought it must be faulty discs but have now tried a dozen, including some brand new, and the problem is always present. I tried replacing my HDMI cable, I tried removing all other electronic equipment and cables that could be interfering, I tried using a different projector, I tried upgrading the firmware to the latest (March 2010 version). None of these things made the slightest difference. Either I was unlucky or this product is a dud.

There's another problem, just as bad. The main reason I chose this product was that Samsung sold a separate wireless rear speaker unit, specifically designed to go with this item. The two failed to recognize each other and never worked. Moreover Samsung have now realised it doesn't work and withdrawn the wireless option from sale. This is appalling.

I could not begin to estimate how much time I have wasted on this problem and in the meantime how many inferior film watching experiences I have put up with.

Some other comments:

The instructions were of poor quality - in particular the instructions for the wireless unit which seemed to have been translated using google translate.

It looks smart (though my girlfriend hated it)

Lots of features

The firmware upgrade process was neat and simple

The Samsung helpline was very good (although this is not supposed to be available to Amazon customers).

The speaker cables were far too short.

While the film sound was deliciously powerful, when I tried to play classical music through the system the sound quality was poor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sounds, 15 Mar 2010
This review is from: Samsung HT-BD1252 5.1 ch Blu-ray Home Cinema System - Black (Accessory)
I have had a DVD surround sound system for a few years, but having finally upgraded my TV to HD I wanted to go Blue Ray. I shopped around and found this to be the best value for money.
I am not dissapointed. The system looks fantastic, has great sound quality (even at full volume (which is to loud to listen too) there is no distortion). I am very impressed with the DVD upscaler as having a large DVD collection this was an improtant factor.
Overall very happy and would recommend this product to anyone.

Excellent sound as this system supports the latest audio formats....works excellent with my Samsung 32' Lcd tv...also connected my xbox 360 via optical which gives excellent output....drawback: as system is connected to the samsung tv which switches itself ON (screensaver mode every 30mins) no way to disable this function.....
