Although the pictures are great the pen is quite narrow so the picture takes a long time to appear, and the sheet is very small for young children to cope with, it is probably more suited to an older child.

I bought this for my son when he was about 18 months old or so but he didn't seem to find it very interesting. We did get some use out of it though as the mats can be played with in the bath. Now that he is 3 he actually uses it properly but it still only occupies him for 10 minutes at most. Maybe it's because we only have the one set, or maybe it's because you can just about make out the image even before you wet it, but he never asks to play with it. And perhaps it's just me, but when I try to twist open the pen to refil it with water, it seems to open the opposite way to what you would expect.

I think these are great - so easy to use and not that messy. we took a whole lot on holiday with us - good for the plane and brilliant that they can be reused.

These little mats (and Tomy AquaDraw Mini Mat Thomas Collection 2) are great fun and can be used with the Tomy Aquadoodle Travel N Doodle Drawing Toy. My 3 year old daughter has them in the car for long (or short!) journeys and loves the fact they are 'magic'.

Just about held his interest as it needs a bit of ability to use the pen and a bit of patience.
