Not as described, inferior quality than BB's own cable,
By
This review is from: BlackBerry ASY-18683-001 (Electronics)
The item is titled "BlackBerry ASY-18683-001" and the description says "Original Blackberry USB Data Cable!" However, the item I received from "Tech Consultant Ltd" was not a Blackberry original. It seems at least two other reviewers have had the same problem, perhaps some from different suppliers.
You may prefer this cable to the Blackberry original or you may not but as the item says it's an original Blackberry cable, it is reasonable to expect that that is what you will get. I have no problem with people offering cheaper, non-brand alternatives; I do have a problem if they are passed off as originals. Personally I believe this cable to be a poor substitute; it's very short (1M), very thin (perhaps half as thick as Blackberry's own), and the plastic seems of a poor quality. The thinness might account for some people's problems transferring data with this cable as it is undoubtedly a badly shielded cable. This item seems to have lots of sellers and I am not clear if this is just a problem with Tech Consultant Ltd's supply. I bought this as it was Prime eligible and fulfilled by Amazon so I knew if there was a problem I would have a hassle free return process. If you absolutely must have an original Blackberry cable (and I did so that I could return the equivalent of what I had been given and lost), then I would treat this listing with caution. At the same time as ordering this item, I also ordered the boxed Belkin version (Belkin Hi-Speed 2.0 Micro USB Cable, USB A to Micro B, 1.8m) directly from Amazon for myself as I didn't mind not having the Blackberry branded version. The Belkin cable is great quality and was the same price as this cheap impostor cable. I have now gone to Carphone Warehouse and paid £9.99 for a true Blackberry cable.

This is a good quality USB cable. It seems very sturdy and has been working flawlessly in the few weeks I've had it.
It's used to charge/sync my HTC Desire.

Charges, doesn't do data well, not Blackberry,

To be honest, for the price, I wasn't expecting the genuine article. But the description does say that it's made by Blackberry (not the title - the title implies its compatible with blackberry, but somewhere in the description it says the manufacturer was Blackberry) - which is obviously not the case.
It's not even a good "replica" of a BB cable. It's a thin cable, always charges the phone, but data is flaky, and I would *not* trust it on a USB drive. If you want a cheap charging cable, buy it. If you want a data cable, spend more and get a brand name one.

Bought this as an extra charging/syncing cable for use with a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro. It works perfectly and, being made with thinner cable, is easier to pack and is more flexible than the one supplied. An excellent product at an excellent price.Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro with Sim Free

The cable is low quality and certainly not OEM Blackberry part which all bear the blackberry logo. data transfer speeds are slow with it.

Prompt delivery, Item exactly as described.Others have complained the product they received was not an OEM cable, but I have no reason to believe this was the case with the one I received. *Update* Bought this item Feb 2010, 2 years later through intermittent use, occasional abuse and general wear and tear, and being lost and found a few times, this cable continues to work without any issues.

Used this cable as a second phone charge cable to use at work. It lasted for just two months, then the micro USB plug fell apart.

Got this because my BB got wiped, used it to reinstall the OS. This cable is not made by blackberry and is twice as thin as the official one, but we all know that the official cable wouldn't be ][p so there is no point complaining about that. This is still a very excellent product and at that price you can't give it a miss
