3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Rather disappointed with this TV as had it for two weeks before something burned out and had to return it. Might have been just been bad luck, but not a good sign as Amazon itself no longer sells this TV directly and couldn't get me a replacement.

TV itself has excellent HD and good normal TV and video display, however suffers from some blurring/fuzziness...

5.0 out of 5 stars Samsung UE55B7020, 21 Mar 2010
This review is from: Samsung UE55B7020W 55-inch Widescreen Ultra Slim Full HD 1080P Crystal LED TV with Media 2.0 and Freeview (Electronics)
I read most of the reviews for this TV, as it's such an expensive purchase I wanted to make sure it would be worth the money. The only downsides to this TV that I could see were people complaining about the sound being pretty poor and that the corners of the TV when a lot of black was on the screen, showed a slight lightness. I can honestly say that after extensively looking for the corner lightness I could not find this at all. As for the sound, I find the sound more than adequate for a TV, although anyone who has this money to fork out on this and not have surround sound kit is missing out. As for the TV itself, this is the very best picture you will see on any TV on the market. I have a friend who just purchased a new flat screen 32 inch TV and wanted me to see his blue ray play on on his new hi definition TV. As he was gleaming about how amazing his picture was, all I could think was how my picture was so much better with normal TV never mind a blue ray disc. The picture is really that good. What I would recommend is, don't put TV to power saving mode as you lose definition, keep setting on dynamic to get an unbelievable picture that has to be seen to be appreciated and wall mount this TV as due to its sheer size and thinness it feels like it wouldn't take too much to pull over (within reason).
Lastly, I only bought normal DVD'S as the couple of blue rays I bought for my previous TV didn't show much difference. When you get around to watching a Blue Ray on this TV, WOW, you wont want to buy a normal DVD ever again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding & Groundbreaking!, 15 Aug 2009
This review is from: Samsung UE55B7020W 55-inch Widescreen Ultra Slim Full HD 1080P Crystal LED TV with Media 2.0 and Freeview (Electronics)
Bought this tv a month ago and am still being amazed at it's picture quality and feature set!
There's not much this tv can't do!
There are built in media files which cover things like screen saver type things where you can either use the default pictures of animals, landscapes or piece of art, or you can load up your own pictures, awesome!
For a full feature list go to the Samsung website as it would take up too much space here.
I'm running my XBox360 through the VGA input, my Wii through the Composite and my Blu-Ray & VirginV+ box through the HDMI.
There are so many options for connection it should suit everyone.
The sound on the tv it pretty good but to be honest I have everything running through an AV amp so I don't actually use the TVs own sound.
Is it worth the money?
Hard to say, if you want an eco friendly TV with awesome picture quality and enough options to please everyone, then yes.
If you're looking for the biggest picture size for the least money then there are other set on the market that will be a better match, the new LG for one.
I love it, but that's just my opinion.
:-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the rest!, 28 Nov 2009
This review is from: Samsung UE55B7020W 55-inch Widescreen Ultra Slim Full HD 1080P Crystal LED TV with Media 2.0 and Freeview (Electronics)
Although I did a lot of research for a new TV I must admit I was guided by the Which report that highlighted this as the best buy TV giving it top marks in most of the sections. It is truly a fantastic picture and we cant get over how thin it is, unbelievable! Its not cheap but then the best never is but for a long term investment it will bring hours of satisfaction. Go for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Looks Stunning!, 20 Dec 2009

This review is from: Samsung UE55B7020W 55-inch Widescreen Ultra Slim Full HD 1080P Crystal LED TV with Media 2.0 and Freeview (Electronics)
As with any New Quality TV, the picture is always bright and colourfull.... Age will soon dull that down over time.
This TV IS very slim, and light, and the stand looks really nice on my Black Glass unit.

The set up was easy, and I was surprised that you get Two Remote controls ---- One a Large size with all the functions, and the other a very small one that looks like a really small mini PC mouse... that one is useful for just changing the channels and using the volume - Not that you should be using the inbuilt speakers with this TV as they are not all that great and make the TV sound very cheap!

I set up the whole Media 2.0 and connected a Lan cable to the TV from my Broadband Router just to see what was on offer - Internet wyes.... Its a good Gizmo to show off to friends, but not something I will be using, as I have a Mini Media PC underneath the TV anyway, and the TV internet is very limited to a basic few options - News Weather and a couple networking sites!
There is games and sing alongs for kids, and a few cooking recipies, and also a workout exercise session within the TV, and of course a small selection of inbuilt pictures to use as a slideshow... but using a Cheap USB Memory stick will ensure you show your own selection of pictures.... but again, you will use that once or twice and end up forgetting its there come time. More so if you already have a Media PC hooked up, then you will never use it.

You can plug in an External Hard Drive or USB memory stick to the side of the TV, and watch whatever you have on there with no need for a PC, Such as a Picture slideshow or even a Movie! although I have not tried a movie yet as I already have a Mini Media PC hooked up to this TV for that purpose, and use that for surfing/emails also.... but I have tried the USB Stick jist to see a slideshow of pics and it looks great.... I use this if I dont have my Media PC switched on, so thats a bonus.

I may have missed something here and not set things up right????, but when trying for several hours to connect my Sound system up, I was unable to use the usual Red and White audio leads... so had to purchase an Optical Lead... no big deal really as the Optical lead is singular and slim as opposed to the Twin Red and White Audio leads that was bulkier...

Yes you have the sockets for them on the TV, and it worked using those sockets in my previous Samsung TV, but not with this one... I dont think they are OUTPUTS - they are INPUTS?
But as said, using an Optical lead sorts this out, and in my opinion, it is better than adding to the multitude of cables you will be plugging into this TV.

Speaking of which.... there are no Scart Sockets on this TV.... Thats Technology for you! ... but you do get ONE scart converter supplied, so was pleased I could still use my Wii games consul.----> You may want to search out for more of these if you need to connect up several of your Scart Cabled appliances DVD Payer/Video Player ? !!!!

The Freeview menu has a really nice look to it.... I have used many freeview boxes over the years, and they all have very horrible layouts and colours and menues but this TV really takes first prize in that department as it really is nice to look at and use.

As said, the set up was really easy, and was up and running in no time at all... even connecting to the internet was a breeze.

I have yet to purchase a Blueray Player to see the full potential of 1080p so cannot comment on that yet... but I'm sure I wont be dissapointed.... although I need to choose that player very carefully as I have read that some are a nightmare to use ---- Thats why these Customer reviews are so important eh?

There are several "Invisible" function buttons on the front of the frame, so be careful not to go cleaning the frame while the TV is on, or you end up changing channels and upping the volume, or putting the TV to sleep (standby mode) when you brush against them as they are Touch Buttons and are sensitive!

Summing up, this is a great TV that looks really nice... If you can, then place it on a wall where it will look even better because it is so slim it will look like a picture frame as opposed to the other LCD's that stick out a great bit from the wall, this one will sit near flush!, but on a nice TV Unit, it looks just as good.
And please use a seperate sound system if you dont want to listen to a tin can sound!... I have yet to hear of any TV's inbuilt speakers being anywhere near good quality, and at the price and style of this TV, you really need to do it justice by buying a good sound system....!

I'm very pleased with the TV, and wish that Amazon was more accurate in their stock availability saying it would be in stock, and Delivered "AFTER 25TH DEC" and here it is now Available before that date... BAH! as I bought this from another "Inferiour" supplier here at a slightly more expensive price... and they never delivered when promised --- 4 days later that the estimate!

Buy this TV with confidence, and please also check that you have the right connections to hook up your existing appliances to save you running out AFTER you try setting everything up. The optical cable being one (mines is approx 1.5m in length and is ample to use with appliances underneath in the TV unit), and the Scart "converter" connecters being the other!... this is only about 9" long just to convert Scart to the HDMI looking plug at the other end....... Amazon have these items in stock cheaper than the high street, so have them delivered along with the TV!

Bought it from Amazon, got here within 3 days.
PS3 performance with Uncharted 2 BETA Trial was stellar producing second to none blacks comparable to Plasmas.
Colours were amazingly vivid and bright.
Customization options allowed you to turn of MotionFlow to reduce blurs.
Overall...awesome!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Looking TV. Great Price., 21 Jan 2010

TV looks great on the wall -- nice clean and simple design.

Impressive image quality when viewed straight on. The 46" version seems to have better image quality (I know 3 people with 46").

Terrible mini scart adapter -- the standard size scart lead is always falling out of this. It's a shame Samsung couldn't provide a 1m or 2m length mini scart lead.

I was going to purchase a Samsung HDMI/Bluray/Hard Disk player, but reviews were very bad, and I'm not taking the chance. Damn shame, because they look good and would match the impressive aesthetics of the screen.

No problems connecting to HDMI sockets (these are physically secure unlike scart), but had a problem with sound (i.e. lack of) when connecting to (new) PC -- resolved with downloaded software drivers for PC.

The ultra slim stand (not included) doesn't allow as easy access to back as literature suggests -- the angle is insufficient. Recommend a USB extension lead to access USB socket.

Unless someone can show me otherwise, there seems to be a lot of built in redundancy with the remote control and on screen interface, for me anyway, as I'm on Virgin Media, and perhaps for anyone else, as analogue TV broadcasts are being phased out. That aside, the on screen interface is great, especially the diagnostics. I was particularly taken by the sounds that play when the unit is turned on and off... the little things matter!

Once we had placed our order through Amazon, the product was dispached very quickly, once the televison had arrived in Guernsey and we had installed it, we were instantly impressed with the quality of the picture. We have the television running through a home theatre surround sound system and HD Sky set up, but the sound quality through the television is of an acceptable quality. Picture quality is very impressive and the colours are so vivid. All in all there is not a lot to complain about, we have only had the television installed for a couple of weeks and all seems to be fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great TV, but hold on a second...., 28 Sep 2009

Mr. A. Carnevali (London) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Samsung UE55B7020W 55-inch Widescreen Ultra Slim Full HD 1080P Crystal LED TV with Media 2.0 and Freeview (Electronics)
I bought a Samsung LED UE55B7020W about 2 months ago. I agree with mostly all the reviews before mine, however I have to add a couple of criticisms.

First of all on a screen this size if you watch it in perfectly dark condition (as you should), push the blacks and colors a little bit (as it's suggested) and set your picture mode to anything but Standard (i.e. Natural, Dynamic, Movie) you will find in the four corners of your screen 4 slightly foggy areas: they are like brighter shadows that make the picture a bit milkier and softer.
I thought that was a problem with that particular TV set and, only 2 days after I bought the product, I asked the Samsung shop to replace it with a brand new one (something which didn't really happen straight away, but this was mainly a problem with the shop itself, so I won't go too much into details).
Well, I'm sorry to say the problem is still there. As I said you'll only notice this if you're watching the TV in proper darkness and the fault only shows in dark images (scenes at night for example: I was watching Pan's Labyrinth on Bluray last night and found the fault really annoying, so I had to switch to the Standard Mode and changes the settings of the Energy Saving to make my image less vivid).
I don't know if this is a particular fault with this model because of the size of the screen.
Also, it has to be said, the actual sound coming out of this TV set, is pretty bad... Obviously, in 99% of the cases, if you buy a TV like this, one expects you to have a proper Sound System too (a good Amp and good speakers), so this issue shouldn't really matter, but I had some problems with my Amp for a few days a couple of weeks ago and I had to switch to the internal speakers of the TV. I was really appalled by how bad the sound was: very thin in places, very boomy with the surround.. in other words, just not very good. I guess you really spend your money on the actual screen itself.
Finally, don't bother too much with the whole Media 2.0: it's just a bit of a waste of time. The games a re pretty useless and boring and unless you own a shop I don't really see the reason why you should go through the hassle of flipping though the pretty slow menu to have a screensaver of badly photoshopped pictures.
I wanted to rate this 3.5/5 but since I can't give half points I decided to go for 4, just because the TV looks really stylish and because on a size like this it's hard to find better picture resolution, however those faults are definitely there.

After seeing the 55" up close in the high street there was no going back, the picture is just awesome and once i get it attached to the Sammys HT-BD1255 surround sound i'm sure it will shake loose all my fillings.
An added bonus is that it played seamlessly all of my xvid, divx, avi videos and mp3s saved on a usb hard disk, just plug in and go.
Also on average £490.00 cheaper than the high street, well done Amazon.
