After weeks of trailing through the Internet looking at TVs to purchase i got down to this one and the 42" jvc lcd, the price amazon was selling it for was well bellow the high street price and even some of the cheap online stores couldn't compete, so that was my deciding factor.
The set up was very easy and took about 10 mins to load all the channels, the digital menu is very easy to navigate and picture quality in SD mode is very good, but it's when you plug in a blue ray player the TV comes into it's own with pin sharp clarity and great sound,the ps3 and 360 look great and there isn't any noticeable lag when playing fast paced games.
I'm very happy with the TV and would consider the Toshiba brand when buying any other electrical appliance.

Had been browsing the internet for a while for a decent 1080p TV and had stumbled acorss the 42RV635DB as it was on offer at the time for a fantastic value, and I am certainly getting my moneys worth as it includes many different features that keeps it ahead of the other 1080p TVs'. The setup was very quick as it automatically scanned for freeview channels giving off a great picture quality, but the full high definition came when the PS3 had been plugged in, the 1080p gives full detail and with the dolby digital plus and the fantastic game mode it is an excellent television for gamers. I also used my laptop on the TV through HDMI which too is a fantastic feature. Overall this is a superb television and I would highly recommend it.

i love this tv.the resolution plus is an upscaler for digital tv(not sky just the freeveiw inbuilt) and it works the picture quality is such that my sky box is turned off at every opportunity because the freeveiw picture is so good! the sound also blew me away, i have a toshiba dvd and the sound from the films is almost 3d. try a blue ray player with thia tv and your going to get a surprise(a good one). oh and this one has an off switch! a real bug bear of mine with our previous toshiba tv. also the light adjster saves alot of electricity apparently so save the planet buy one!

This tv does exactly what it says on the tin. A perfect size for watching an a minimal amount of frame around the out side giving you a full picture. The set up and operation is simple and the picture quality very good and at a price you could not beat.

Very fast delivery from Amazon, the TV is exellent, great for games and general tv watching.

I looked around at plenty of televisions and decided that I would stick with Toshiba as I have another tv of the same brand. This tv comes alive when my blu-ray player is connected to it, and the picture quality is sharp and crystal clear and the best you can get. The audio sound is of very good quality too and overall I am glad I've kept with the Toshiba brand and would definately buy another one.
This is the best you can buy and you won't be disapointed :)

Having owned this set for 9 months, it has now developed a fault. The right hand internal speaker no longer works and i am having to return TV for a refund. I must say that whilst 95% of the TV attributes are very good, the sound has never really been as good as i would expect. Using a surround sound system solves this, but it should not be necessary to do this.

This is a replacement for a 40" Sony that went defective after 14 months. My initial reaction was that the Toshiba did not have the quality feel of the Sony; then again it cost a lot less than the Sony. The Sony instruction manual was barely adequate, but the Toshiba manual was even skimpier than the Sony one, and it does seem to be for a whole group of televisions not just the one I have.. The reviews that I have read report that the sound of the Toshiba is poor, but my eighty year old hearing could not determine whether this was true or not. What it did notice was that on three occasions in the first week, the sound became completely distorted - it sounded like the bass control had gone to max. and each of the speaker was outputting in a different language; the only solution was to switch off completely, rest a few seconds the restart. On one occasion part of the picture went into horizontal bars mode. Other wise the quality of the picture seems excellent.
