First review of this new tv anywhere on the web!,

This review is from: Toshiba Regza 37RV635D 37-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p LCD TV with Freeview (Electronics)
The first thing I notice is the improved design. I was slighty put off but the design of the 555xv series, with the speakers looking like a bit of an add on. They've added a fading grey line, which adds a bit of class to the tv. (see badly taken attached photo!)
Very easy to set up, so easy my technologically inept wife could attach the stand and tune in the freeview channels! This model has resolution +, which after seeing what upscaling freeview and dvd boxes do, I was quite sketical about. It "allows your LCD TV to display standard definition images at near high definition" according to the Toshiba website. Well, put it this way, I'm not planning to get sky HD anymore! The blacks are very good and autoview is a nice addition so that you don't have to change the contrast etc if watching a dark movie late in the evening. The main reason that I went for the 37 not the 32 was Dolby® Digital Plus. I have 7.1 with a specialist decoder to create a home cinema experience. I tested the sound coming directly from the sky box verses from via the tv and was impressed on the extra surround sound generated. Can't wait to watch my new THX versions of Star Wars to hear what it does. I'm slighty disapointed in the small size of manual, although you can download a in-depth version. Also, that no cables/adapters are included, but that's just the way things go. It's good that you can turn off the glowing "Toshiba" sign on the bottom of the tv, and nice that you have a full-power-down button to save those penny's. The menu system is straight-forward, hiding the advanced options unless you want to adjust them. I also like the way that when you - for example - adjust the contrast, the main menu screen reduces to the bottom corner, so that you can see how the whole picture changes with each degree of adjustment. Overall very impressed for the amount of money spent and would recommend to anyone wanting to get a tv in this price range.

Wow is my first word for this review, I got to say that I was slightly unsure if I had made the right choice on this TV as I have been a Samsung fan for many years (well.. 6yrs to be exact!)
When I got this TV today (thats 1 day after ordering) I was amazed at how light and lovely it looked. I managed to work out the stand and then got it set-up and tuned in, This took around 10mins total time and was easy. First thing I noticed was the picture on the Freeview, its alot better than my 32' Samsung HD Ready TV that I have had for just under 2years now. The picture seems crisper and brighter than I have had to deal with before. Then I clicked the guide button, some of you may not think this is a feature worth writing about but I have to disagree that some inbuilt Freeview guides are rubbish. This TV has a awesome guide that takes up all the screen and shows you on a proper timeline when and what is on. Once I booted up my PS3 and changed the setting from 1080i to 1080p I was amazed at how crisp the text looked, Then I watched the opening scene from The Dark Knight and was in love with the clear picture. I have only had the TV a day but already all my fears have been put to one side, its a great TV and for this price I would recommend it!

Really easy to set up. Picture quality is excellent. Haven't got any HD sources yet, but SD upscaling is really very good. Excellent range of inputs and outputs. Only got four stars as the sound is only average and not surround sound. Would highly recommend.

i chose free delivery arrived in 2 days and on a saturday when most companies would charge more, so well done amazon.
this was purchased for my son. the toshiba is an excellent tv for the price. set up took a few minutes and was so easy a child could do it. the default picture though is a little garish so i quickly altered the settings for a much better picture (see below). on freeview some channels display slight artifacts, though i'm the type of person who would notice this more than most. there is also some definite motion blur, not so much on fast action scenes but on things like quick head & hand movements...sport seemed ok football was fine so was racing (horse and car) but close up head shots (especially on bbc channels) had a definite blur with fast movement. i think this would be much less evident on a 32 inch screen, which i think is the size i will buy. having said that it's a much better freeview picture than i've seeen on some top end sets. standard sky through the scart was excellent and i would see no need for having the high definition sky channels. dvd's looked stunning the set added a whole new dimention to my old dvd collection. i was unable to test full hd movies due to lack of bluray but i am in no doubt that the toshiba would be nothing short of excellent. the xbox 360 though was amazing and game play was fluid and the depth of field superb! for the price it's a steal but if you have an average size living room i think a 32 inch set would be ample, with the 37 inch i did find myself looking 'around' rather that 'at' the picture, if you get my gist. i have a large living room and i still found the 37 inch a little imposing. there's a lot of size junkies out there that rate bigger as better but i think picture quality and aesthetics are more important. my picture settings (pay careful attention to the '-' minus settings): backlight: 70 contrast : 61 brightness: 24 colour: -7 tint: -2 sharpness: -14 advance picture: backlight control: on black/white level : 0 static gamma: 7 (although 9, 11 and 13 were prefered by others) noise reduction = mpeg = low DNR= auto resolution plus level 3 all in all a very pleasurable experience parting with such little cash and getting so much in return. makes a nice change :-) hope all the above helps you make the right decision. it really is an excellent choice.

This televison is an absoulute steal, the picture qaulity is brilliant and so is the sound quality. The resoulution + (plus) seem's to work wonder's on standard picture quality, it is literally as good as H.D quality. I would highly recomend this television to anybody who want's an expert quality t.v at a Knock down price. So go on go and grab yourself a deal I tell u now that you won't be disapointed. So many pro's and absoulutly no con's!

A great buy for the money. Good picture on HD and it upscales SD well. Easy to set up and lots of tweaks to get it right; the online manual is very helpful to sort these aspects out. The sound is better than i expected given other reviews that were less than positive on this point. A very good product

I'm just an ordinary viewer with no great amount of high-tech knowledge or expectations, but I can still recognise the combination of a damn good picture and a damn good price when it's put in front of me.
Nearly all of this model's numerous excellent features have already been accurately discussed in previous reviews. In fact it was these early reviews that convinced me to buy. After several weeks of ownership, all I can add now is my own five stars' worth.

I agree with all the good comments from the other reviews. I've had this TV for a few weeks now, easy to set up, picture quality is excellent, the sound also plays better through my 6.1 surround system than previous Toshiba 32" TV. Very good all round and price is good too.
