Fascinating Aida really are a marvel. You'd think after 26 years in the business of writing songs, they'd be running out of material and/or steam but no, you'd be very, very, very wrong. With every album of theirs I've listened to in the last 20 or so years, I've thought "That was amazing, they can't top that" and yet every time, they somehow manage it and "Silver Jubilee" is no exception!

High points from this album for me are the raucously filthy "Dogging" sung by Dillie Keane and the absolutely heartbreaking "I Watched Two People" sung by FA's new soprano Liza Pullman, which tells the story of a woman whose husband has fallen for someone 10 years her junior. Unlike previous albums, this one contains less of the torch songs/ballads that FA fans have come to love and far more political material - which can only be a good thing! "Health and Safety" rings so true to anyone whose professional life is ruled by the HSE and the chilling end to "Lerwick Town" is probably the strongest message about climate change I've heard in a long time.

My only criticism? I only wish there were far more tracks - that's the problem with Fascinating Aida, you see - they always leave you wanting more!

...so there I was in the foyer of the theatre at "half-time" and this album was being sold on the desk.

I did a quick search on Amazon using my mobile 'phone (have you tried the Amazon interface on a mobile 'phone - it's really good and works well) and I managed to snap it up at around half the price - this put a smile on my "cheap-skate" face.

Just over a day later the CD arrived and it is spot-on. I captures the show exactly and is an excellent reminder of a really great evening.

A real bonus of buying the CD is that you also get the CD sleeve with all the words on it (just in case you missed any of them).

If you like FA, then you will love this album.

If you have never heard their music, then I suggest that you try a few of the samples provided on the Amazon web site and then buy this album.

... and the big money saving tip is to set up Amazon as a bookmark on your mobile 'phone as you can then check out prices in shops before you buy and, if the shop won't match the Amazon price, you can always click on the "Add to basket" and buy from Amazon before you leave the shop!

After deciding to reform for their 25th anniversary, Fascinating Aida went on tour with their new show featuring largely new material. Having been to one of the shows I can say that this CD is a true representation of the enjoyment of the evening. The songs are a bit more political this time 'They Care' is about CCTV, 'The Markets' is in the form of a lecture on banking, short selling etc. 'Lerwick Town' is a Scottish/Jamaican calypso about the climate change: 'it's too damned hot below the Firth of Forth!' and so on. There are also two (and a bit) collections of 'Bulgarian Folk Songs' with themes relating to current affairs and celebrities - one about Paul McCartney and Heather Mills is particularly cutting.

There are, however, two stand out songs on the album: 'Dogging', in their recent tradition of having at least one filthy song on each album, is about that particular night time activity. 'Tesco Saves' is in the form of an American Gospel Hymn: 'Jesus Saves but Tesco Saves you more'. Priceless

5 out of 5 and another 25 years please!

I used to enjoy Fascinating Aida on the radio, and was delighted to see them on stage recently (early 2009). The songs on this CD are all from this recent tour, and show that they've lost none of their touch - still sharp, funny and topical, with Dillie Keane both writing and performing. I shall definitely be buying this CD.

This CD compiles all of the new songs from Fascinating Aïda's Silver Jubilee tour and the recordings are not the same as those on the Fascinating Aida - Silver Jubilee [DVD] (which adds to the variety). It was the songs on here that introduced me to this group and now and, as a result, I have been purchasing their back catalogue. The songs are satirical, witty and up-to-date, such as "It Isn't Too Late to Be Famous", "Health & Safety", "Tesco Saves" and the "Bulgarian Song Cycles 2009" (think Tom Lehrer) but also very touching and heart-felt as in "I Saw Two People" and "Goodbye Old Friends". Sometimes, they're even downright and delightfully crude ("Dogging").

There was originally a furore over the fact that "Cheap Flights", which was made very popular on YouTube, was not included on this CD. The reason for this was that it was an encore and not part of the main show but was due to be part of the next production. It seams that the record label has relented and re-released the CD with this track included (taken from the DVD). It is not mentioned on the cover nor is the lyric included in the sleeve, but it's on there.

There is a huge amount of wit that goes into these songs and I hope they continue for many years.

Twenty five years on and they've still got that brilliant touch.

This CD is a live recording of their recent UK tour; it has a few favourite old numbers and a load of new, equally funny ones. Particularly funny are "Tesco Saves" and "Dogging". Wonderful stuff! Worth it.

Went to a performance a couple of weeks ago and bought this - the show was great and this CD lifts my spirit every time I listen to it and I just keep chuckling. I love the political songs summing up in such a clever and humorous way what many of us feel. HSE Health and Safety Executive - it's a gem, as is The Markets.
Love it. Thanks, Girls, for bringing sunshine into my life!

A brilliant performance - more time to hear all the words with the DVD. Great value for mmoney.

What Fun!! So unusual, witty and clever! I really enjoyed every song. Some great numbers to be copied for tennis/golf Club entertainment. I will definitely buy more of their DVDs!
