5.0 out of 5 stars Decent Cable & Good Value
This Firewire IEEE 1394 cable (which I'm currently using to connect my MiniDV Camcorder) is another excellent cable from the AmazonBasics Range providing great quality at a reasonable price. Having used Amazon's HDMI cable from the same range, I'm quite impressed by the quality of these cables and wouldn't hesitate to recommend these in future.

3.0 out of 5 stars Basic firewire cable
This is a basic firewire cable, one level up in durability from the thin cables that come free with some devices, but nowhere near the robustness most professionals will demand.

Firewire, IEEE 1394 and iLink (all the same thing) is a professional specification for transmitting large amounts of data swiftly. This particular cable, 4-pin to 6-pin, is designed for...

There's not a lot to say about this product. As other reviewers have reported, it does what it says on the tin. And yes, the packaging was a bit humongous for what was inside! I would add that a USB cable will accomplish similar and that this product might be considered a little outdated by some.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great quality, 25 Feb 2010

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Although IEEE 1394 cables go for dirt cheap on eBay it's worth investing in something durable like Amazon's Basic range. As soon as you take it out of the box you can see it's well built. I use it with my Cannon digital camera and other video devices and the upload speeds are extremely quick. Although I already own a much cheaper IEEE 1394 cable I will be replacing it with this one. I would recommend it for those that work with large file-sized media on a daily basis as it's sure to last a long time.

To add to my review I'd like to ask Amazon to reconsider the words "Frustration Free Packaging" on their boxes. Beacause the box has a plastic label across the opening it's just as hard to get into it as it is with normal packaging, and the phrase 'frustration free' isn't at all correct.

A major consumer group have proven these over-priced leads make no difference to image or data quality whatsoever over a unit costing the same number as the fingers on one hand..

the only cable that's needs quality they shielding is the SCART cable, and that should cost less than the amount of fingers on two hands
