Definitely the best Exodus album and also one of the greatest Thrash albums of all time. A masterclass in how to write and execute proper Thrash Metal. Great sneering attitude through-out, every song is good with top notch riffs, great lyrics too about how brilliant Metal is and how the band are coming to get you. "It s time to fight for metal tonight, bangers take your stand and obey our metal command". A sheer joy to listen to from beginning to end. Bang your head against the stage, Metal takes its' price, BONDED BY BLOOD!!

Exodus is a really superb band... not through musical talent or vocals, or even the quality of songs...the attitude and presence of the band on this album massacres all opposition. The lyrics are aggressive and provocative, the riffs are evil-sounding and super fast and constant references to Satan make the album vintage thrash. Paul Baloff heads the band brilliantly with a large range of terrorising high-pitched growls accompanied by solid thrash guitaring. "And then there were none", "Exodus", "Bonded by Blood" and "Pirahna" are particularly worth listening to. The CD also includes two brilliant live tracks from a gig at the London Astoria in 1989.
Buy this album before it disappears.

Bonded by Blood has always been hailed as a landmark in the history of Thrash Metal, and Exodus, although enjoying a renewed popularity today have always been a seriously underrated and unlucky band.
The album has an interesting story behind it; with delays, mistrust and involvement with Metallica's Kirk Hammett, but you can find this out for yourself in the liner notes.
The hands down best song on the album is the opener, the title track. This song as with all songs on this album is a punchy number with numerous guitar solos and a slew of distorted power chords.
The album is also noteworthy for containg some of the Band's only material with Original singer, the late Paul Baloff.
One of the albums flaws has always been its production and this remaster goes a long way towards fixing the blocky tom sound and muddy guitars.
With a number of classic songs that Exodus continue to perform to this day, a large historical value and an impressive level of musicianship Bonded by Blood is a must buy for any fan of Thrash Metal.

Quite simply one of the best pure-blooded Thrash albums of all time. My only potential reservation is that 20 years later it may perhaps sound a little dated to a young new-listener. At the time (mid 80s) this was an album which made your jaw drop, as it was unlike anything which had gone before.

It was fast, aggressive, and ultra-heavy, in a time when Maiden and Dio ruled the earth and sang about rainbows and dragons.

Baloff shouts (nobody else shouted in 1985!) every word like he means it, whilst still acknowledging the tradition that he should do so to some sort of tune. The jagged twin Guitar attack of Holt and Hunolt is one of Thrash's legendary pairings: ugly in intent, melodious in their heaviness, and telepathic in their execution.

Much more raw than their subsequent releases, this is 5 angry young men playing music straight from the gut. It absolutely kills from the first note right through to the last.

This album is an absolute classic in thrash metal. Each song is excellent with great lyrics, heavy fast riffs, awesome solos, and great thrashing drums. The vocals in my opinion take some time to get into but it aint really a problem. This beats the hell out of Testaments debut "The Legacy" though that has "Alone In The Dark" as whole it doesn't come close to this. Best songs are Bonded By Blood, And Then There Were None, A Lesson In Violence & Metal Command. Basically if you're a thrash metal fan and havn't got this buy this without hesitation. Thrash On!!!!!

I bought this album on vinyl (Music For Nations) when it came out and it blew me away completely. This album is one of the strongest and mind blowing debut albums of all time and is genre defining to boot. Century Media re-released a lot of great Combat Records Thrash Metal albums in 1999 and this was one of them. This is a re-release of the Music for Nations records re-release and contains two bonus live tracks ("And Then There Were None" and "A lesson In Violence") with Zetro on vocals. The original version did not have the two bonus live tracks. As far as re-releases go this is great as it has the original artwork, some unseen live photos and flyers of gigs from dates played in San Francisco before the band were signed. If like me you bought this album to update your collection to cd format you will know that it is well worth the price. If you love Exodus you need to buy this album enough said.

This band is the original Kirk Hammett band but sadly the recording does not encompass his time with them.Despite this, the material is great to listen to and good quality. One point that must reccommend this above all others is the true metal 'BIG HAIR' styles.Much more fun than the neat look thats in now. This album is good for someone who enjoys thrash rather than nu-metal though its excellent in its own right.I definitely reccomend getting a copy as soon as you can.
P.S. Check out the pics in the booklet, can you spot Jeff Hannemann??

Bonded by Blood is Exodus' first album, and one of the very first thrash metal albums alongside the likes of Metallica's Kill 'Em All. Inevitably it's dated quite a lot and is a lot more basic and slower than the albums that would follow, but for the sheer primal thrash riffing here Bonded by Blood still packs a punch, with standout tracks like And Then There Were None and Piranha standing as early classics of the genre. This album features the only appearance of Paul Baloff, whose recent death have made him a much lauded figure, though truth be told his vocals and lyrics here are pretty rough and are sadly much inferior to those of his replacement Steve Souza. Dated and occasionally cheesy, but there's still some magic in these grooves. If you want to learn about the genesis of extreme metal this is a vital album.
(NB - Please note some import versions of the remastered album also feature 2 bonus live tracks)

This album emerged from the San Francisco bay arena thrash scene, and is still one of the best. Despite little musical variety, for what it is Bonded By Blood is hard to beat. From the moment you press play to the moment the album finishes, you're taken on a ride of savage, brutal guitars, fast drumming, intricate basslines and paint-peeling vocals which jumps out of your speakers and punches you in the face repeatedly for the 40 minute plus of it's duration. The solos are crazy and the songs explode into frenzied bay arena thrash, which leaves you gasping for breath through-out. A metal masterpiece.
