“Trust is everything…” [Azalea].

This is a 2008 erotic drama and is the fourth and final instalment of the Poison Ivy series started in 1992. The disc loads to a main menu that offers play, scene selection , set up [English 5.1 default or stereo and subtitles on/off] and future releases [x3]. The film opens with a running girl who we assume is murdered then cuts six months later when Danielle "Daisy" Brookes [Miriam McDonald] tells her wanna-be fiancé that she's leaving and going to college. Arriving in a taxi she meets Blake Graves [Ryan Kennedy]. In her first week her political theory lecturer [also Blake’ dad] singles her out for a prestigious internship in Washington D.C. angering the head of the secret Ivy Society, Azalea Berges [Shawna Waldron], a close-knit sisterhood to whom the lucrative scholarship is traditionally granted to. Thus Azalea thus casts her plans to get Daisy under her thumb and gain the coveted internship for herself.
The film actually departs from the previous ones [to which it only has the name in common] by portraying Daisy as a naive victim, rather than instigator, for the real ‘Ivy’ here is Azalea. The film however has the usual ‘Ivy’ trademarks, pretty young women, superficial plot a with few surprises and some mild nudity –which the film relies on too heavily making this the weakest of the four as it seems far more ‘laid-back’ than its predecessors. It’s more like Poison Ivy meets Cruel Intentions and Mean Girls, but it is well filmed with a good clear sound. There’s nothing overly offensive [given the subject] and it does entertain and maintain the interest so just scrapes a **** rating.
