This was recommended by a friend, our favorite song has always been stand by me. Well when I heard this and saw the dvd I was captivated. Its probably the best album released this year and it comes with a DVD. It is made up of worlwide players singing familiar songs including Bob Marley. It is done very well and the linking of scenes is brilliant some of it can be very moving
The proceeds go to a charity. As an aside at one point in Stand by me you can here a policesiren
Its so good you say to yourelf is it finished already - highly recommended thru Amazon

WORLDS GOT TALENT,
An inspired collection of songs from some incredible talents discovered around the world and complimented by the work of Bono , Manu Chau andBob Marley himself. A huge US hit destined to go the same way here

Brilliant in it's concept and brilliant in it's execution. This is a MUST HAVE CD/DVD whatever your age. It puts music into perspective, it's not about celebrity status it's about love, peace and above all happiness. Buy it, in fact buy several copies and give them to your friends, in fact give them to your enemies and they may well become your friends, they will love you for educating them about something worthwhile

Once I found this incredible movement, Playing for Change, I couldn't wait to get their cd/dvd. This project brought together by Mark Johnson and his team, people of great heart and vision, is a remarkable combining of singers and musicians from all over the world. It has brought to the fore outstanding singers such as Roger Ridley (Los Angeles),Clarence Bekker (Netherlands), Grandpa Elliott (New Orleans), Mermens Kenkosenki (Congo), Keb' Mo (USA) and many others and we are treated to the incredible talents of musicians, such as Roberto Luti (Milan), Jason Tamba (Congo), Louis Mhlanga (Zimbabwe) and so many more. We get to hear the wonderful singing of groups like Sinamuva (South Africa), Vinaya, Saindhavi and Shruti (India), the Omagh Community Youth Choir (Northern Ireland). The songs have great soul, great feeling and great sincerity. 'Stand by Me', 'One Love' and 'A Change is Gonna Come' just ripped me apart and I found songs like 'Better Man', 'Chanda Mama', 'Biko' very moving. What makes a lasting impression is the love that comes through and that is what the movement aims to create - peace and love through music. It is a totally wonderful idea and while the music in itself is a joy to listen to (and, with the dvd, to watch), what really stirred my heart and soul was the coming together of all these people to bring a message of peace and love to the world. May the movement grow and thrive to make a real difference!

Songs Around the World

My brother sent me a link to this on you tube, I watched Roger Ridley doing his version of "Stand by Me" and realised to stop trying so hard and enjoy what I play instead, all the fancy kit went back into the cupboard and the old acoustic came back out and now I play whatever song I like but in my own way, maybe I got the best music lesson from a dead guy! The album is a great mix and a lot of fun from professionals to amateurs, take your own meaning from it all but give it a listen, its worth it.

Modern standards, including songs from bob marley, peter gabriel and ben e king, given a global treatment. The homemade patchwork effect, with various street musicians from around the world contributing verses, fill ins and solos, is intoxicating. The fact that cultural differences are a positive thing in music gives us hope for the future. It's a visionary project, impeccably realised and can't fail to bring a smile to your face.
