4.0 out of 5 stars Sony P Series P11ZG (Vista Home Premiun)
Just what I wanted to carry with me when away from home. The "Instant On" facility has been a very wellcome suprise and works quickly and well (including SD cards). You need to understand that there will be quite alot of upgrading for the first day - so give yourself plenty of time when you first start it - It's Vista Home Premium so if your already used to that on your...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's a bit disappointing
After all the hype i finally bought it. I should have researched into it more as I have discovered that this computer is SOOO SLOW!!!!

It's good for travelling but not if I want to do anything quickly as it takes 5 minutes to load up.

You need to understand that there will be quite alot of upgrading for the first day - so give yourself plenty of time when you first start it - It's Vista Home Premium so if your already used to that on your current computer it will be just the same (so no new windows 7 to learn). Definately worth it if you this is what you need. My only neg is that the sound is a bit like a mobile phone when you use the built in speakers(its sterio though)but very very good when used with external speakers or with the two forms of media sharing(Sony Vaio and Windows Media player).Sony Vaio P11ZG 8-inch Laptop, Intel Atom Z520 1.33Ghz, 2GB RAM, 60GB HDD, Vista Home Premium (Green)Sony Vaio P11ZW 8-inch Netbook, Intel Atom Z520 1.33Ghz, 2GB RAM, 60GB HDD, Vista Home Premium (White)

What an excellent light weight mini laptop. Ideal for travelling and with fantastic resolution for downloaded photo's. The only negative is the high initial purchase cost. Highly recommended.

I have the 530 CH version (a US model), which has a 32Gb SSD and is thus much quicker than the HDD version, even with the horrible Vista Home installed. Boot up is about 30 seconds with this configuration but would be far quicker with Windows 7 or XP, which I shall be getting to replace Vista. The other advantage of the SSD is a much extended battery life - almost 3 hours at standard use setting with the standard battery but over 5 hours with the 4,800 Ah battery (well worth having).
Yes the screen is small and characters tiny but extremely clear - at this size, you have to sacrifice something; I've adjusted the font size in the various applications, which works fine. Access to wireless networking is simple and very efficient. Build quality, as one would expect from Sony, is excellent.
Downsides: The RJ45 socket is on the extension, not on the body of the PC, the speakers(even at this size) are puny. Other than these two, no complaints and a very contented user!
Advice: if you can put up with a US keyboard, get the SSD version - it's much better all round than the HDD models.

4.0 out of 5 stars SONY P11ZG 8 INCH LAPTOP, 6 July 2009
This review is from: Sony Vaio P11ZG 8-inch Laptop, Intel Atom Z520 1.33Ghz, 2GB RAM, 60GB HDD, Vista Home Premium (Green) (Electronics)
I PURCHASED THIS PRODUCT (NOT FROM AMAZON.CO.UK) AND FOUND IT TO DO EVERYTHING EXCEPT FOR THREE DRAW BACKS

1) THE CHARACTERS ARE VERY SMALL ON THE SCREEN, HENCE YOU HAVE TO BEND CLOSE TO THE SCREEN TO BE ABLE TO READ. YOU CANNOT THEREFORE WORK FOR LONG HOURS ON THE SYSTEM.

2) BEING A 1.33GHZ SYSTEM I FIND IT SLOW, EXPECIALLY WHEN IT IS BUTTING.

3) NAVICATING WITH THE POINTING STICK IS RATHER DIFFICULT, AN EXTERNAL MOUSE WILL SOLVE THIS PROBLEM ALBEIT LIVING YOU WITH ONLY ONE USB PORT FOR OTHER CONNECTIONS.
