Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Live in the Netherlands (Audio CD)
I bought this because I wanted to hear the ska version of 'Who Do You Think You're Kidding Mr Hitler?' which Asda use in their ads.

God, where to start; I'd never heard of Billy Childish until I bought this so have no real knowledge of his other work for a comparison. Basically if you buy this you get a fair-ish recording of a live gig by the blackhands who give a very respectable and entertaining performance in their quirky ska/blues/rock style of a wildly eclectic repertoirre.

What queers the pitch though is the atrocious quality of the vocals which resembles nothing so much as karaoke performed in a tin shed.

Whether this is due to the crude nature of the live recording process or just representative of Mr Childish's usual performance skills I'm not sure, either way it's awful and is at odds with the Blackhands musical skills.
