I was a huge fan of criminal minds seasons 1 and 2 and heard that Mandy Patinkin was leaving his roles as Gideon after season 2. I thought this would be hugely detrimental to the show, how wrong could I be, I loved the character of Gideon but I believe the way the show was written with Gideons exit it allowed us to see more of the other characters and their abilities and it allowed the new character or Rossi to make his return tho the BAU that he helped create. Paget Brewster is brilliant as Emily Prentiss. Garcia has become integral to the team by the end of season 2 and in season 3 we see even more of her. She is a brilliant character who has some of the most quick-witted and intelligent lines of any show (huge Garcia fan here).

Seanson 3 is filled with fantastic investigations that twist and turn, it has plenty of character development and as we are learning to expect a HUGE cliff hanger. Enjoy this fantastic show.

This series is brilliant and I love it. Can't wait for the next series to come out! There is a mix of seriousness and comedy in it, and the characters are all very different. The storylines are always good and keep your interest, right up until the end of each episode. I would recommend it for anyone who likes crime mysteries and profiling serial killers. Series 1 and 2 are brilliant too.

I missed Criminal Minds when it was on TV and have been catching up on DVD. Now I can't wait for Season 4 to come out on DVD. Criminal Minds is great TV and well-written and acted. The thing that has really impressed me is how the writers and producers and everyone on set took up in season 3 after the hasty departure of Mandy Patinkin (playing Jason Gideon) at the end of the second season. As the oldest member of the team and the emotional centre in many ways, you'd think Gideon would be hard to replace, but the new man, David Rossi (Joe Mantegna, Mamet's 'go to' guy) is even better at holding the troubled world of the serial killer in view. He brings depth and a bit of tension to the team. The pace has changed and in good ways.

Yeah, it's just TV but there are few shows with such confidence. Occasionally the plots are solvable by the watcher before the close but that's less important than the coherence of all the different performances.

Sometimes I feel the direction is a bit untrusting of the viewer. The camera jerks round to catch everyones' reactions in a conversation and that's just not necessary. If they'd trust us (and the actors) more, there would be more energy or understanding into the thing. A quibble only. I like it.

Having thoroughly enjoyed seasons 1 and 2 of criminal minds I have been watching the third season on Virgin 1 over here, which finished two weeks ago. Season 3 is fantastic and criminal minds just keeps getting better. This season sees the departure of Mandy Patinkins character Jason Gideon, he is replaced by David Rossi (played by Joe Mantegna).

This season was affected by the writers strike in America so it has been cut short by 2 or 3 episodes. However it is full of fantastic episodes such as the 2 part episode Lucky and Penelope the latter focuses on Garcias character and we learn more about her. other fantastic episodes are true night, damaged in which we learn a bit more about David Rossi, in heat and tabula rasa.

This season also has the episode Lo-Fi the absolutley mind blowing season finale, which will leave you hungry for season 4. I'm getting this as soon as it comes out. This is the season not to be missed by any criminal minds fan.

Having watched season 1+2 of Criminal Minds I have to admit I was already well and truly hooked on the series. However, if this is your first time to watch the programme don't worry, each episode has a different story line so picking it up in the middle will not mean you will be totally lost. And for those of you who are avid fans it should be known that the snippets of information learn't about each character increase dramatically in third series as we begin to learn even more about our favourite personalities and their crazy lifes.

It should also be mentioned that this series also sees a dramatic change to the characters with the departure of Mandy Patinkin and the addition of his replacement Joe Montegna as David Rossi. As a fan this came as a huge shock, as Mandy Patinkin was for me was one of the most controversial characters in the series.
Even though he is one of the main characters who's ability the team rarely questions, he was the character I knew the least about. And on hearing of his departure my automatic responce was "NO I need to learn more about you first". However, after his fabulously written departure (episode 1) his place is quickly filled by the equally as mysterious Joe Montegna as David Rossi, whos characters dark sercrets quickly fill the void that Mandy Patinkins character left.

This series of the show is once again fasinating and intrapping, pulling you in and as usual, never letting you go. The constant jokes between Penelope Garcia and the rest of the team are hilarious and really give you the odd "laugh out loud" moments. The series contains fabulous story lines, fabulous chacactor plots and amazing " I never seen that coming" moments. Over all, it is fabulous series with my only complaint being "Why can't you make them faster". Bring one series 4!

I was a little dubious about buying this season as I thought the loss of the previous main character (Gideon), who for me seemed fundamental to the show, might spoil it. However I went ahead anyway and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed this season a lot and watched the whole thing over just a couple of days as I kept saying "just one more episode!". It finishes on a terrible cliffhanger though, so I suggest buying season four at the same time to avoid a long wait!

I purchased criminal minds through a recommendation from Amazon u.k. and as usual was not disappointed. I love "Without a Trace" and have purchased all the dvd's (cannot wait for season five). You mabe be weary of "profilers" because they are not real nitty gritty policemen (women), however, what you have in criminal minds is a group of very different individuals who just blend together beautifully as a team. In seasons one and two, Dr Reid (the nerd) got on my nerves, however in season three i found myself getting attached to him and even liking the guy.

The big change in season three is the departure of Mandy Patenkin (Gideon)and the introduction of Joe Mantegna (David Rossi). They were taking a chance here as GIDEON was one of the central figures in the previous seasons. To their credit, they have pulled it off superbly, mainly because this is such a strong series with many episodes leaving you quite breathless.
And a warning about the last episode of this season. It will literally blow you away and have you begging for the fourth season !!!

So in conclusion, don't think twice about buying this dvd. American tv at its best and the good news is that series four is out in September.

This was fine until moved to Amazon Prime - suddenly episode 6 "About Face" is only 7.24 minutes. This is a turning point in the series and yet we cannot see it. Please sort it out Amazon.

Criminal Minds is one of my absolute favourite shows at the moemnt, very smart, very clever, very good stories. After the first two Seasons and some reviews I read I was a bit worried how to like season 3, but truth is, it is probably the best yet - that being said I haven't seen Season 4 or 5. A few things - and characters - change, and there are some people here saying they don't like Rossi - Gideon was better. Truth is Rossi is the total opposite of Gideon - arrogant, not very team player and thinking he can do it all - in the beginning, but he grows on you after a while. The stories get better with S3 abd although there might be 2 or 3 episodes where I thought they could have done more, or leave out entirely - the whole season is very good and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Especially with the Cliffhanger Finale. If you love Criminal Minds you will love this.
