5.0 out of 5 stars Classical is the new rock'n'roll
Beecham,Sargent,Barbirolli-they'd never have done anything like this but times were a changing as more radical conductors appeared ready to cut disco versions of well loved classical themes.

Beecham,Sargent,Barbirolli-they'd never have done anything like this but times were a changing as more radical conductors appeared ready to cut disco versions of well loved classical themes.
At the same time the LSO were cutting classical styled versions of rock standards
For Classical the boundaries changed to include theatre writers like Rodgers & Hammerstein and selections of traditional folk songs.
Some of these became chart albums. The snobbery once attached to classical music was on the way out along with The Gramophone. The new magazines would review jazz and show tunes.Elvis Costello,Paul McCartney,Deep Purple even Jimi Hendrix (via Nigel Kennedy) were about to enter the classical catalogue.
ELO and Queen were modelled on the classical format.
Roll over Beethoven had never been more appropriate

If you were to buy the album with the three disks in that are on this site you will get this disk so it would be pointless buying it separate, unlike myself and now I have learnt my lesson and will be careful the next time I buy from Amazon. Be careful there are two albums which are the same on this site only buy one of them do not be fooled.
