This is the third album from Mary in as many years to feature previously unreleased recordings from the '70s and '80s which have been hidden in her attic gathering dust until now. These tracks have been lovingly remastered and show just why Mary has such a cult following to this day. There is so much more to this singer from Wales than the infamous 'Those Were The Days' and sing along Eurovision hit 'Knock Knock'.
This collection picks up where her last official release for Apple Records in 1971 'Earth Song/ Ocean Song' left off, with the emphasis on singer songwriter folk influenced ballads - a number of which have been written by Mary herself.
With her then husband Tony Visconti taking the controls, Mary excels on classics such as Paul Williams' 'Perfect Love', Tom Paxton's 'The Last Thing On My Mind', Jim Croce's 'I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song' and the somewhat quirky Stephen Schwartz 'Lion Tamer'.
If you were a fan of Mary in her hey day or have just discovered her singing then give yourself a treat and add 'Recollections' to your collection.
Also worth seeking out are other hidden gems from Mary - 'Valentine' and 'Live At The Royal Festival Hall' both available on Amazon and Mary's official website.

Enjoy this superb CD by the wonderful MARY HOPKIN. Standout tracks for me are Mary's own compositions the jolly 'Who's The One?' (fantastic backing vocals from Mary herself) and the haunting 'Another Day'. Just sit back relax and enjoy some 'Quiet Moments' with one of the most gifted singers ever. It is fantastic that MARY HOPKIN has finally released some of her unreleased recordings from the 70' and early 80,s period. NEWS ... NEWS ... a further CD 'Now and Then' out in May 2009. Welcome back Mary !o
